Alessandro, Giancarlo and Dario were the most amazing hosts! It felt like we were at home.
The agriturismo is located in the most beautiful place, giving you a dream-like experience, surrounded by the gorgeous Tuscany landscape, it just couldn't be better. It exceeded by far all our expectations!

...which, is why we’ll be returning next year. Podere Spedalone seemed the perfect place for our trip, we wanted the stunning Val d’Orcia countryside paired with nearby hilltop towns for restaurants, shops and piazzas to wander round with our two and four year-old. We got this and more.
I really liked the idea of taking my family to an agriturismo for a week, as I wanted something my husband and I would enjoy but the children would too, and Podere Spedalone seemed to fit the bill. With a swimming pool, garden to dig vegetables from, animals to feed, gorgeous olive grove-lined fields to run around in and a separate villa from the main building so my kids could make all the noise they wanted, and not be disturbed at night, it did not disappoint.
And, this was at our own pace. We could spend all day on our own if we wanted, or find a great companion in Alessandro, our host if we felt like socialising. And, there was no pressure. Alessandro could not have been more hospitable. Ever-present, he tended to our every need, and there was never a time we couldn’t find him. Not only was the service 5-star, he is an extremely friendly man who loves to tell stories of the area – what’s not to love? And even better, my girls adored him, and they’re not easily won over! As the girls enjoyed playing with the dogs Chipie and Punto, we got to relax (which as I’m sure any parent knows, isn’t easy with small children). But, it was relaxed, I found myself wishing I could stay forever, I felt truly revived. And the food was amazing, Alessandro and Dario put on a great family meal-type feast, lovingly prepared as only the Italians do.
Nearby pretty Pienza (8 –minute drive) was a pure pleasure. Small, but perfectly formed, we spent many mornings whiling away our time sipping cappuccino’s in cafes or gorging on gorgeous gelato in the afternoons. And on those days when we felt slightly more energetic, we took ourselves off to Siena (50-mins drive). In fact, we weren’t short of a beautiful hilltop village to visit – Montepulciano, and Monticchiello (a favourite of ours), are nearby, and more. Just take your pick.
Podere Spedalone is a magical place. My eldest daughter made me promise her we’d return next year, and it wasn’t hard to agree to her request. I’ll be booking in my next visit as soon as I can. My only regret is that we didn’t spend longer there – a pure retreat. Perfect.

Room Tip: Casina Blu is great for families, as you have the privacy you may want with kids, but the main build...

If you like 5-star service and your every need anticipated, then Podere Spedalone is the place for you. The drive was easy and beautiful thorough gorgeous Tuscan countryside to a stone country home every bit the dream of Tuscany. With a background in high-end hotel/restaurant service, Alessandro catered to our every need…from ideas for day trips to cleaning our shoes after hikes. Dario let our daughters pick garden vegetables for our meals on a daily basis, feed the pigs, and catered to our family’s multiple gluten-free, vegan and non-dairy food requirements. Because of the homemade jams, honeys, meats, pasties, granolas, & egg dishes for breakfast….the sunset homemade cheese, wine & champagne happy-hours, and gourmet multiple-course dinners, wines & grappa, we either never left or returned “home” for dinner every night. The spa was perfect for stretching & yoga. This was our first aguroturismo experience; others after were just not in the same league. Upon our leave we sent home bottles and bottles of homemade organic olive oil, honey, and jam.
Gian-Carlo created the ultimate Tuscan experience here.

Room Tip: Our rooms were wonderful; the sun filled our rooms every morning, and the jacuzzi tub was fantastic.

We've had the good fortune of spending some time in the Pienza and Val d'Orcia region of Tuscany, staying in a number of different locations and brought a group of 25 people to Podere Spedalone to celebrate a birthday. The trip was fantastic due in large part to the wonderful people, setting, accommodations and dining at Podere Spedalone. Allessandro and Giancarlo made our guests feel welcome and provided over the top dining and wine tastings. We will absolutely be returning to Spedalone!

if you want the experience of a stay on a farm in the true italian countryside i recommend PODERE SPEDALONE.
located in the heart of tuscany thirty minutes from siena in the NOBILE and BRUNELLO wine country, surrounded by
seven hundred sncient, over five hundred old, olive trees, this farm raises its own pigs, chickens and turkeys, a totally organic vegetable garden, vintage olive oil, wine and apple brandy.
the buildings, dating back to the 13th century have been completely renovated and house beautiful and comfortable rooms with modern bathrooms, overlooking the crete senesi.
you will enjoy true italian charm and hospitality by contadino giancarlo tosi and his managing partner alessandro capitoli and wonderful authentic tuscan meals prepared by their young and talented chef dario. spa, swimming pool, bycicle, wifi, dogs and the feeling of being cared for comes with the place.

This place is one of the best I have seen in Tuscany, from the history of the place, the surrounding of the place, the owner, the host, the food,. you just have to be there to believe it.

Everything they serve is organic and home grown, rooms are with a private bathroom free Wi-Fi in public areas, also equipped with a Turkish bath and hot tub and free bikes for you to explore the local area.

The perfect place to relax. It is the ideal location to explore the surrounding villages, as well as enjoy the sun, read, relax, walk, bike, or just do nothing. The breakfasts and dinners are sumptuous, and conversations with other guests invigorating, with superb service from the extremely helpful and friendly staff.
