“Blissful painting week in heavenly surroundings.”

For the second year running we joined a group of Dutch doctors who are members of an art club in Amsterdam and have been coming to paint at Sant'Anna for six years; we are an English couple who learned about them through our British association ( a medical art group).Apart from the wonderful and friendly reception from our new Dutch friends, we were and have been again, this year, overwhelmed with the beauty of the surroundings, the views over the Val d'Orcia, the endless subjects for painting and drawing in the shady garden, the comfortable simplicity of the accommodation, and the delicious meals produced by charming Ornella, Stefano and their team.
Although we came as a group many people come as individuals or families and as can be seen from the other reviews are equally delighted. It is important to know that it is a simple Agriturismo, not a hotel with service- eg rooms are cleaned but you make your own beds. This year our little ground floor apartment(33 had a kettle and coffee/tea making, but not sure whether this applies to the single 'monks' cell' rooms in the Monastero itself.
This year our week ended with aperitifs in the garden at sunset, and our last meal under the stars. All plan to return next year

Room Tip: We originally asked last year if ground floor accommodation was possible, guessing that the stairs i...

A short ride from Pienza, Sant'Anna is a beautiful quet place to rest, read, write. Ideally situated for wine lovers, between Montalcino (Brunello) and Montepulciano, if you are looking for something other than Chianti. We had a spacious apartment with a small kitchen corner (fridge...!) to cook our own dinner sometimes, to be had in the beautiful garden.
We will surely come back.
Great place, you will feel "at home" with Ornella and Stefano (in the good sense).

we did not see the movie first, we had been looking for a monastery hotel. Sure the location is carefully restored, kept in a reduced design which was what we had been looking for, combining middle ages and modern times in a well balanced manner (including WLAN under a fresco): great. But what makes this place special is not a "bunch of nice old rocks". Its the warm welcome that hard working Ornella, Stefano and their friendly staff offered us every day again and again.

We (2 adults + 3 teenagers) stayed in the Agriturismo sant'Anna for 4 nights in a 5 bed-appartment.
The reception by Ornella was great with explanations about this old monastery. Specific about the peaceful location is that it was the site of the "English Patient" movie.
So in addition to the history loaded buildings, some views reminded us of the excellent movie. Stefano and Ornella are great hosts providing their guests with delicious breakfasts and when taken on site an excellent homemade dinner.
Upon leaving, we purchased homemade wine and oliveoil to maintain our taste of sant'Anna.
We will definitely return to sant'Anna for our next Tuscan visit.

Beautiful stay there in May 2013. Great host (Ornella) with a very good and helpful team. Quiet and peaceful place, nice garden with many possibilities to sit, relax, have a glass of the very good house wine or just watch the sunset. Great food (they do the cooking themselves, using ingredients from the area, creative and delicious). The complete stay is just peace of mind.

Several years ago I read a letter to the editor in the travel section of the New York Times that was a glowing review of Sant'Anna. I filed it away in hopes that one day we would stay there. We just returned from a trip to Italy that included 4 nights there. It was everything that I had hoped for and more. Relax in the garden and look out at miles and miles of beautiful Tuscan countryside, walk through their olive tree orchards, observe the swallows that live in the eaves of the monastery, and rejoice in the ringing of the bells. Take time to visit their chapel and view the beautiful frescos. Sant'Anna was perfectly situated for us to wander throughout Tuscany - Pienza, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Cortona, Bagno Vignoni and more. Both the breakfasts and dinners (be sure to reserve at least one night if not more) are fantastic. We took home a bottle of their olive oil and Reserva Vino Nobile, which I'm happy to report survived the trip home. But, the complete experience was due to the people. Ornella and Stephano were wonderfully welcoming and helpful. And, the sweet woman that served us coffee at breakfast, too. If your looking for a 5 star hotel with lots of amenities, Sant'Anna is not for you. But, if your looking to immerse yourself in a true Tuscan experience, Sant'Anna in Camprena is simply perfect.

Fantastic trip here in May.
Beautiful building, views and friendly service.
The dinners were AMAZING. Definitely stay and eat here if you can.
I wasn't too bowled over by breakfast but was so full from the meals the night before I wasn't extremely hungry anyway!
