We have just returned from our honeymoon and as part of our trip we spent 5 nights at palazzo brandano. It completely lived up to its reviews. The rooms are perfect, the views stunning and food amazing! All topped off by extremely helpful staff and the manager ousmane who will go out of his way to make your stay a once in a lifetime experience.

Wonderful location - we visited a couple of places in Tuscany before reaching Petroio - Greve-in-Chianti, Siena, Montepulciano. Petroio seemed wonderfully small and rustic - perfect countryside setting. The room was terrific as well - the decor made you feel like you were Tuscan royalty. At the same time, all modern amenities were readily available. The attention to detail is great - everything from stationery to lighting to even something as mundane as bath tissue were perfectly chosen.

Ousmane was a wonderful host and manager - from managing our check-in and creating a great 4-course dinner (even though we ordered just 1 or 2 of the courses) to providing us complimentary glasses of wine and creating a personal connection with us, he handled everything with aplomb. This was the most "un-hotely" experience we have ever had.

As part of the Italian leg on our honeymoon, my wife and I were looking for a quiet and romantic spot in Tuscany to spend a couple of nights. Ultimately, we chose to stay at Palazzo Brandano purely on the strength of the Trip Advisor reviews. And, as usual, the Internet got it right. This place is just spell-binding, leaving me somewhat at a loss for words. Here is a recap of our all-too-brief stay.
Much like all the other reviews, we were greeted with smiling faces and two glasses of unbearably delicious prosecco upon our arrival. We arrived mid-afternoon and, having opted to skip lunch, were starving. Unfortunately, however, I learned that the kitchen was closed at that time. Disappointed, I retreated to the room to inform the wife that I had failed to procure food. However, within a few minutes, there was a light knock on our door. Laura and Linda (two members of staff) were patiently waiting with several platters of cheese, salami, prosciutto and freshly baked bread (still piping hot). Words simply couldn’t have described our gratitude (not to mention the rustic deliciousness of the food).
We spent our first evening watching the sun set over the distant hills amid the tranquility and serenity of the breathtaking palazzo garden, the only audible sound being the quiet crunch of gravel under the feet of the guests and staff. We were treated to lots of superb local wines before dinner and then to a world class meal, replete with fresh truffles that Ousmane had graciously gone to purchase specifically for us. My wife and I had ordered mismatching courses so, as to balance out the servings, Ousmane gave us each a complementary course so we wouldn't have to watch the other eat. This was rounded off with lots of delicious wines and a round or two of complementary grappa.
When asked what we wanted to do the following day, we mentioned that we wanted to visit a vineyard and eat somewhere local. Ousmane nodded and said he would take care of it. By the time morning arrived, he had drawn up a full itinerary for us. He drove us to nearby Pienza for some light tourist activities and returned a few hours later to pick us up and take us to a small vineyard nearby. After sampling lots of wonderful local wine with a winemaker, Sergio, and his apprentice, Frederico, we were driven to a charming restaurant where we had yet another incredible meal. As soon as we were finished, Ousmane magically appeared to bring us back to the hotel where he treated us to some rich Spanish wine. As we were draining our final sips, he invited us to retreat to our room where he had left a small surprise for us. As a final treat, he had gone to a local bakery and bought us a celebratory honeymoon cake (complete with a personalised message written in blue icing!) and had Linda spark up a few candles while we were drinking downstairs. Glowing from our perfect day, we each ate a slice of cake in the candlelit room and just shook our heads in amazement.
Truth be told, I have never received service like this. I am an experienced traveler and have the means to travel well. But I can safely say that Ousmane and his staff provided us with unmatchable service and friendliness that helped create some impossibly perfect memories of our honeymoon. I can safely say that, prior to our visit to Tuscany, my wife had never hugged a hotel staff member before.
If you are looking to visit Tuscany, don’t even bother looking to stay anywhere else. Stay here. It will be amazing. You will be sad to leave. And you will immediately start planning your next visit.

Ousmane was the perfect host--the beautiful Palazzo, inside the small, picturesque village of Petroio was just perfect. Beautiful rooms, amazing diner with the perfect atmosphere overlooking the hills of Tuscany. The only problem: one night was too short of a stay!

We stayed at Palazzo Brandano for 2 nights and had an absolutely fantastic experience. The views are incredible, the service exceeds expectations in every way, Osman provided excellent recommendations for our day trip, and the food was simply wonderful.

The charming location, great attention to detail, and personal service make Palazzo a perfect place to stay. We enjoyed our day trip to a local vineyard and smaller surrounding cities and the care that the entire staff put in to making sure that we had everything that we needed. Our only regret was that we stayed 2 nights instead of 5-6. It was the best part of our trip and we look forward to visiting again.

Room Tip: Rooms are simply gorgeous with beautiful detail. Ask for one with a view.

My friends and I were staying in Petroio for a week in July 2012. It was a fantastic place to stay. We were staying nearby the Palazzo Brandano and visited the restaurant there 4 times. The food was sensational and the wine was chosen perfectly by Osman, the manager. The views over the Tuscan hills are very nice, so we all found it a very beautiful and relaxing place to eat. Osman was also a very friendly and interesting guy, and a great host. We all enjoyed it so much kept going back.

We were travelling as part of a work trip and visited on a couple of days off. Thank you so much Ousmane & team for the experience. The accommodation was beautiful, the hospitality better, the town simple but beautiful, Ousmane - wonderful, welcoming and with a great sense of humour. Our dinner was amazing....course after course. Each one was fantastic, the wine well picked, the atmosphere and sunset all added to the ambience. Tips on where to visit nearby were spot on.

We work in travel and have told Ousmane we will highly recommend Palazzo Brandano.

Thank you, would definately come back (and hopefully for longer).
