Very friendly and helpful proprietors. Nice property with a good swimming pool. The good things were really good; some minor comments though. No wifi in all rooms, only set menu at set times on some days; I don't like that on the holidays. On the plus side is that the traditional Tuscan food is very good. The shower is amazing; you have to experience that yourself!

The villa has wonderful views, lots of space to relax and a great swimming pool. The rooms are lovely and rustic, the breakfast is great, the villa is secure and safe and you're made to feel part of the family by the brilliant staff. We enjoyed our stay and we hope to go back.

We recently stayed at Villa La Cappella for a few nights as part of our european vacation from the US and met up with some family members from the UK there during the trip. It was recommended to us by my sister who had stayed there previously and highly recommeded the place to us. We found the setting for Villa La Cappella in the Tuscan countryside to be beautiful and sitting on the swing overlooking to the countyside beyond was an extremely relaxing experience.
We stayed in one of the classis rooms, while our relatives stayed in a room in the main house. Both were very clean and had a lot of uniqure Tuscan flair and character.
Although we did not eat dinner at the Villa, the breakfasts had a great selection of foods and although buffet style, the food was varied, tasty and continuously refreshed by the staff.
The Villa is close to Florence for sight seeing, although be warned that traffic in the city can be busy. Be sure to ask Patrizio for directions. He was also extemely helpful with local restaurant recommendations and reservations.
All in all, it was a great experience for us and we would recommend Villa La Cappella to people visiting the area.

My friend and I enjoyed a 5 day stay at Hotel Residence Villa La Cappella and it was a truely memorable stay with good dinning, lovely rooms and a view that makes the morning perfect.

The people that runs the place are service minded and you feel very welcome at their family hotel. We had some wonderfull driving around Tuscany in the hotel's '84 Morris Mini convertible - you can't rent a car like that in the airport!..

If you love the spirit of 1000 Miglia, vintage cars and driving hairpins around Tuscany - be sure to join the Villa La Cappella Tuscany Tour in May

We are coming back next year - that is for sure!.

We booked to stay at Villa La Capella for three nights of our honeymoon in Tuscany and while I usually only write reviews for places that are worth recommending to other travellers, we feel compelled to write a review given the bad experience we had here.

Our friends who live locally and had recently held a wedding in the town recommended the hotel as somewhere to stay while in Chianti. We booked a suite and our experience in the lead up to the stay was promising, with attentive and friendly correspondence. The hotel itself is lovely, the pool is quiet, with good views and the rooms are dark and cool and the overall feel was homely.

Our problem began when we asked the hotel to provide a mosquito net for our bed as we were woken constantly by mozzies and bitten - I get severe allergic reactions to them, and was keen to sort out a net. They said they might not be able to but would get a plug in repellant which, in our view, was not adequate as they genearlly do not work. us other guests at the hotel said that they had screens on their windows and the website itself shows rooms with nets over the beds. So it felt right that we should have one, there was even a hook above the bed where one had previously been.

The employee we were speaking to said her and the owner thought it was odd that there was no net in the room. While she was very helpful she directed us to the owner Patrizio who she thought would be able to work it out. He was to our complete bewilderment, rude and patronising telling us that in his 20 years as a hotelier, he had not experienced any problems with mosquitos, that guests had never copmplained and that they only had them in Florence, not in montespertoli. Now given that we had left several dead specimens on the room wall and that his other rooms had screens and nets, we were very taken aback at his reaction to what was in our view a simple request (and we were so nice about it!!!!). He accused me of lying when I mentioned the nets/screens (he said they didn't have any) asking me who had said there were screens and what did they look like! I repeated myself and said that his employee had said that the Classic double rooms had screens, he suddenly said well, yes on the other house we have screens.... totally backtracking as he knew we had caught him out. When I tried to say that I didn't think his reaction was appropriate given the situation and that we were in fact on our honeymoon and it was upsetting, he said well you can leave or stay, I don't care, you still have to pay me, oh and by the way we had booked you in months ago and you sent us so many emails (we didn't we just had to change the date). My husband and I realised that there was no winning with such a person so we smoothed it over and just said well if you are able to get a net for the room then we'd be happy and just left it at that; when we went to the room, I felt quite sick at how we'd been spoken to.

We got the net. Which we were so happy about. Later when we headed out for dinner, he totally blanked us even though I stood right in front of him to thank him. Such weird behaviour for someone whose chosen profession is to run an upmarket hotel. We felt extremely unwelcome for the rest of our stay and sensed that he'd spoken to the other staff about us and while our issue was resolved, the way in which we were treated left a very ill-feeling in the air for the remainder of our stay. We are easy going travellers and if we hadn't been determined to rise above it, it threatened to ruin our honeymoon so much we considered just leaving and paying not to stay there - which we couldn't afford to do. Such a shame as we both knew that aside from this, we would have really enjoyed our stay at La Cappella.

In essence, the co-owner Sonia, the staff who sort breakfast and dinner are wonderful, the hotel is great, it just massively let itself down by the situation above.

Would also note for anyone considering halfboard, we only had dinner the first evening as we and the other diners found the food disappointing. We heard it was better on subsequent nights, however I would defintiely recommend heading down the road to Montalbino (esp. restaurant La Lombricaia) for dinner.

The car park is extremely tight as doors open inwards to the small parking area. We discovered on leaving that someone had driven into the back of our hire car which was parked near where the turning arch would be.

Room Tip: Choose a room not in the main villa (a classic room) or check there's a mozzie net above your be...

My wife and I really enjoyed the one week at La Capella. The hospitality of the Tinalli family & team was overwhelming, the location (house & garden) was beautiful and it's the ideal destination for day trips to Siena, Volterra, San Gimignano, Florence and other places.
Not to forget the cooking of the owner - all guest around a table enjoying Italian food style.
Perfect for us!

Having never been to Tuscany or Italy before we were apprehensive about where to stay, what to eat etc. With this fabulous family hotel we shouldn't have worried. Very friendly and helpful, happy to oblige and best of all some of the best food we have ever eaten. No need to go to a restaurant and get another pizza just take what's on offer with the four/five course meal and eat whatever comes. This was home dining but with superb quality and variety. Sage leaves stuffed with cheese and tempura fried - unbelievable. Whatever was served was simple and superb.
The only down point is actually finding the house. Don't trust Sat-navs as they send you to the wrong place.
