The Villa is truly fantastic, with a great pool with a view to die for overlooking the Tuscan hills to the South East of Florence, a good outdoor eating area, good indoor facilities. Marco (the owner) was very helpful in booking tickets for local attractions for us before we arrived, and very tolerant of our constant questions about the Villa and what to do when, and Emilio was on hand to deal with any questions we had once we were in the Villa.
We were a group of friends, 14 in total, with three small children and 11 adults. We rented the main villa, which has five bedrooms and a further sofa bed mezzanine floor at the top of the property, together with the cottage, which has a further sofa bed and was perfect for one couple and a toddler, as it was the only part of the property with air-con. The mezzanine room is in some ways the most beautiful, as it has two large semicircular windows with the best views in the property. To call it a mezzanine doesn't really do it justice, but it might be slightly small for two people.
We were there at the very start of August, so it was extremely hot (think 40 degrees or even slightly higher in the daytime), and was very warm at night. You have to be very careful to make sure that you close the windows and shutters in the daytime, and then open them and preferably also leave the doors ajar at night. If you do this then you get a good breeze and combined with the fan in each room this is enough to keep the temperature bearable.
The outdoor swimming pool was great, although there is no fence around it or alarm to warn of errant kids, so if you have mobile little ones you need to keep an eye on them. The kitchen and outdoor BBQ area was great, and easily enough to cook for 14 people, with a dishwasher (an essential item for that number). There is a washing machine, although you do have to pay 10 Euros per wash, which some of our group felt was a bit steep given the cost of the Villa itself.
You can drive to a local tram stop in 15 minutes, and then be in the centre of Florence a further 15 minutes later, and this is definitely the route I would recommend (thanks Emilio!). Equally you can be in Siena in under an hour, or in Pisa, San Gimignano, or any of a number of Chianti vineyards n the same time or less. Great location.
If you are a large group looking for 6+ bedrooms near to Florence then I think Villa le Botti is hard to beat, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if we stayed there again, as all of our group had a great time.
