“Great place - perfect location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2013

Agriturismo Montalbino is a wonderful place. Especially if you are travelling with children. The location is in the very heart of Toscana a 45 min. drive from the absolute center of Firenze. Montespertoli is the nearest town with a cozy square and a Coop. It’s about 10-15 minutes away. The atmosphere at Montalbino is great. Anna and Marco are very welcoming and the staff at the restaurant is extremely friendly. Prices at the restaurant are more than fair and it is possible to bring the food to the apartment if you don’t want to enjoy your meal at the restaurant. Service is great. Pool is divided in three levels which is great for the children. Three minor play grounds. Lots of farm animals which you can visit whenever you like. Tuesday morning Marco took all the children and their parents to feed the animals, ride the donkey etc. Friday night there was pizza baking for the small ones. Excellent times! Stayed at the apartment La Casina which is small and isolated from the other apartments. The terrace alone was worth the price. Well equipped for cooking etc. All in all this is a fantastic place.
I have only two less positive things to way. First of all we were bothered by bees and wasps. Quite annoying when having dinner or lunch outside. But this comes with the territory and you just need to be careful. Besides this we noticed that all three playgrounds were in need of a minor restoration. Nails sticking out are not compatible with small children. It is a minor detail but I would suggest Anna & Marco to fix it as it is a very easy task which unhandled might give troubles. But as I said – a minor detail.
Our warmest recommendations for Agriturismo Montalbino.

Staying in montalbino with relatives, we went to eat in this place on two seperate occasions. Both times, the food was ok, but, they made us (or tried to make us) pay for things we didn't order. On the first occasion, we ordered the "rosso di montalcino", we got the "rosso di montalbino" (not kidding) yet we were asked to pay for a "rosso di montalcino". On the second occasion, my parents payed for an extra plate they didn't order/receive.

The dutch couple, staying in the house next to us, had a similar experience. I wouldn't recommend this place (even when the food isn't that bad) unless you have to much money and want to be ripped off.

We recently returned from having spent a week at this wonderful farm. The owners, Anna and Marco were incredibly friendly and helpful; Anna saved our day at the Uffizzi by printing our museum tickets, and then Marco immediately come over late at night to fix the heating system that wasn't working. They were both full of advice about the area and very warm. This is also reflected in all the staff that we interacted with. The location is ideally located close to the major Tuscan cities and the drive spectacular. That part of the country is beautiful even in rainy weather. The hotel was kept impeccably clean and so were the gardens and shared areas. We rented the Granaio apartment and it was perfect for our large family group, roomy and comfortable. The only real complaint is that sound travels easily within the buildings so we could easily hear crying babies but that didn't wake us up so it was manageable. The farm itself was also well maintained and the children (and parents) loved seeing the animals and going for long walks in the olive tree groves. The tree house with stunning views of the valley was a plus too! The food in the restaurant was very good and the breakfast varied and quite delicious. The pool was not heated unfortunately so this time of year only for the brave! There were lots of families visiting from all over Europe so the children had lots of new friends to play with and that meant there was always someone to play with or something to do. The whole set up is perfect for families: the laundry facilities, the travel guides, books, games and toys that they provide made the experience quite especial and I would happily return and highly recommend the place.

I hesitate if I would write a review. On the one hand, I prefer to keep this place to myself but then they also need other guests to continue. Well here we go: we have been here 4 times and the place and the people never disappoint. Overall a must for peace but in my case with small children. Very very good!

We spent one week at Agroturismo Montalbino with our three children. We had The most wonderful week, all though The weather was pretty bad. The place is a perfect spot for little children and god relaxation for The parents. The restaurant is very good with typical food from Toscany.

This Agriturismo is excellent for a family holiday. We already went twice!
It is in the beautiful Tuscany Hills. Only a short drive from Florence, Sienna and other nice places to go to! It is great for kids as they can play football, go on the slides, swimming pool and it has it's own small farm with donkeys, chickens, bunny's, pigs etc. You are aloud to go to the chickens and collect some of their eggs. How fresh can you get them?
The restaurant is very nice with great food! They also organize some things to do for the kids. Making their own pizza is just one example. You are also in de Chianti wine area so there are a lot of wineries you can taste and buy very good wine.
We will definitely go there again!

Montalbino was the perfect place for our vacations touring many cities in Tuscany. I felt really comfortable the whole week we spent there. I was a little skeptical about renting a car in Tuscany with a little one but it was the perfect thing to do and very easy staying outside of Florence and renting a car. Montalbino was about 25 min drive to Florence. Very easy to drive to and from. GPS took us right to the agriturismo. Most of my friends who don't know this agriturismo will say their favorite place in Tuscany is Florence, San Gimignano but to me my favorite place was in Monterspertoli, that is Montalbino.
Anna and Marco were so kind and helpful making sure our stay was a very pleasant one. Our son didn't want to leave, all the animals, the playground areas for little ones, the food, the views, etc... Anything we were in need of Anna would be there helping us. The little play area in the corner of the dinning/breakfast area... genius!!! The food was delicious too!
Thank you so much! I can't wait to return!
