Albergo Ristorante Corona
Ranked #3 of 5 Hotels in Bagni di Lucca

Every now and then you find something which is not very often found: a good traditional hotel, polite and tentative staff and excellent food. Our stay at the Albergo Ristorante Corona gave us all of that. The sister hotel is only 10 min walking from the hotel and has a swimmingpool which can be used.

The value you get at this hotel is high and at the same time you have Bagni di Lucca which is a pearl in itself. We highly recommend the hotel (as well as the sister hotel in Bagni di Lucca). We will come back to this place!

This is a very nice place; but do not eat at the Hotel's restaurant...you will pay too much for what you will get. The place is old and a little too far away; great for a getaway far away from every one else.

Roberto (the owner) and his staff were VERY friendly.
We had a room on the riverside with a balcony (splendid view). The storing options in the room were more than sufficiant (this is in many hotels not the case)
We had half board. Breakfast was good but diner was splendid! The fact that we could take the meals on a lovely terrace by the river made it festive.

Room Tip: Street side is noisier than riverside

We can't believe the review by Tezza87? We were there in June 2011 also and cannot say enough about how wonderful it was. The owner, Roberto, was so nice, and accommodating to us even before we arrived. First he helped us modify our reservation. Then, we needed a taxi to pick us up from the train station on a Sunday and he arranged to have one there for us. The hotel is old but well maintained. We were originally given a room two floors up which required climbing lots of stairs. The room was lovely but the stairs were too much for us so we asked for a room on the ground floor and Roberto very cheerfully made it happen for us. The room on the ground floor was also charming and well maintained. The staff, specifically the front desk assistant, Juliana, and the two waitresses, Manjola and Simona, all went out of their way to accommodate our every need and showed infinite kindness and patience with our truly limited Italian when we tried to practice it. They all spoke some English and were very friendly and cheerful always. The breakfast was the most plentiful and offered the most variety of our entire 14 day stay in Italy. The dinners were superb. We will definitely return for another visit and it can't come soon enough.

Room Tip: Contact Roberto directly with any special requests

In my experience staff did not speak English, often did not answer the phone or reply to e-mails, and when I complained I did not receive one apology or kind word. My complaints related to problems with booking mix-ups and random pricing. We spent three nights in three different rooms across the two sister hotels, Corona and Regina, due to over-booking. Room in Corona - dirty old bathroom with water not draining in shower and broken tiles, stains on towels, thin walls, damp problems, uncomfortable squeaky beds and poor service at breakfast. After waiting 10 minutes I had to go to reception to ask for coffee. Rooms in Regina - road side noisy but room large and bed comfortable, but problems in bathroom again, toilet didn't flush, shower tiny with mould etc. Room on park side (€26 supplement) had beautiful view and quiet but very small and over-priced for quality of furnishings, and the room was not very clean. The pool is beautiful, but in my opinion the rest is poor quality and vastly overpriced. The bathroom fittings look very old, and are what I would expect to find in a one or two star hotel. Corona communal areas look like they haven't been decorated for over a decade and the furniture is old and scruffy, and Park Hotel Regina is half finished with adjacent building still not having windows.

We stayed in the hotel for a night on a school trip for performance in the nearby Academic theater. The hotel and restraunt are good. The room is a bit small, but the bath room is roomy and modern. The staff is very helpful and welcoming. If you are not used to the river sound, you should ask for a room on the road side.
