“A really Nice Place”
Reviewed June 30, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

My family stayed for a week in mid June 2015. We had a lovely time. The house is exactly as advertised, very quaint and confortable and everything worked just fine. The village is charming, a slice of rural Tuscany with a super restaurant where the food is delicious and reasonably priced and where you can just drop in and have a beer or a wind if you wish. Even though the village is in the mountains and remote, we still ended up having plenty to do which was great as we have 3 older teenagers. Things we did for the week were, rafting/canyoning with H2Orafting which culiminated in a ~15feet jump into a river pool if you wished, high ropes and downhill carting at Doganaccia, swimming/diving at Bagni di Lucca outdoor pool, a hill walk to the original village of Vico which took about 3 hours and finally a lovely day spent in the walled city of Lucca. We didnt manage to get to Florence as we had enough to do locally. In all we had a really lovely week and we would highly recommend it. Regards

A hidden treasure in a stunning and awe inspiring setting high in the mountains. Wonderfully well equipped and aesthetic accommodation which caters for every need.
A truly memorable experience to stay in such a location.

“Tuscan hilltop gem”
Reviewed September 30, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

6 of us stayed here in September - 2 couples with very young children. The location is unique and extraordinary, 10 minutes off the main road up a steep and winding lane. Upper Vico is perched right on the very top and spills down the hillside to the fantastic Buco di Baldabo restaurant below. The car parked, there is then a steep and uneven 5 minute walk to the house through the village. For children in pushchairs this part is not ideal but it is of course also what makes this place so special and so quiet. There are no cars through the village and the hilltop position is much of what you've come for after all.
The house itself is excellent. It's a charming old building from the outside that has been made very comfortable inside. The kitchen is exceptionally well kitted out, there's a modern, beautiful bathroom and the bedrooms are large and comfortable. The views from the rooms over the valley really must be seen to be believed. They are just fantastic.
Outside, the pool and bbq area is reached through an arch to the side of the house. To swim in the pool and rest against the edge looking at the endless valley beyond was really a pleasure and a privilege.
We used the house as a base, exploring the famous cities and towns of Tuscany - Lucca and Pisa are in very easy reach, Florence a little further and Siena also within reach for a day trip. We had a wonderful time - thank you Karen for sharing it with us!

“Lovely place to stay in rural Tuscany”
Reviewed August 19, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We spent a great fortnight at this lovely house which is authentically rustic but with lots of home comforts. Set in beautiful countryside with stunning views of hills, woodlands and mountains, it really does look exactly like the photos. A well equipped kitchen meant dining at home was easy, there is a big bathroom with bath and shower and there are lots of dvds and books for the odd rainy day (we only had one bad one). Vico is well situated for sightseeing in the area- we visited Pisa, Florence, Lucca and Orrido di Botri- but our most enjoyable days were spent relaxing on the terrace and cooling off in the pool against the backdrop of the amazing scenery. The locals were friendly and helpful- on our first day, I dropped my wallet in Bagni di Lucca and it was handed in to the police station. The walk up and down the cobbles to the house worked off the calories from all the gelato we ate!

Highly recommended, and thanks to Karen for a wonderful holiday.

“A view to die for.”
Reviewed July 24, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

best view in town. Very very quiet. Just nature and stuck in time. The pool is great for the kids and the adults can just relax and drink uno Prosecco. The house is lovely. If you are into star
star gazing bring your gear. This is the second time now and looking forward to next year.

“A Tuscan gem”
Reviewed September 9, 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We spent a wonderful week in this lovely villa in Vico.
The two most stunning things about this villa are firstly the breathtaking views and secondly the extremely comfortable beds.
The interior of the villa is lovely, with wonderful personal touches by the owner. There is no air condition but despite the July heat we did not feel its absence. The kitchen has all modern amenities including a state of the art coffee maker, but no dish washer.
The teenagers enjoyed the pool and extensive CD collection and the adults enjoyed the views.
The villa is in Vico village which is perched halfway up a mountain and the walk up the hill to the car park is steep. On the other hand, the lack of traffic is refreshing, And that's the main dilemma of this villa: its unique location and views are a delight but it comes at the price of it's distance from amenities and a 10 minute drive up and down a steep, narrow road.
