I stayed at this B&B for a week in late September & had a very enjoyable holiday. The 17th century house has been tastefully renovated to a high standard but still retains its old charm.
My room was very comfortable & clean with lovely views of the surrounding mountains. There was a generous supply of tea, coffee & biscuits & both the breakfasts & evening meals were excellent.
The owners, Adrian & Louise were friendly & hospitable & made me feel very welcome. They were also able to help with local information.
The property is situated just off the little piazza in the peaceful village of Brandeglio. It is typical of the area with ancient houses huddled together along narrow streets which are very interesting to explore. It is perched at the top of a mountain & reached by a road which winds its way up steadily through the chestnut forest.
It is an ideal spot for a relaxing holiday & is a perfect base for walking both in the immediate & wider area. There are many way-marked paths & the views are spectacular. If you are looking to experience a real taste of Italy amid stunning scenery away from the cowds in an area that seems relatively undiscovered then this is the place for you.
Other local attractions include the historic small town of Bagni di Lucca & the huge gorge of the Orrido di Bottri. The old walled town of Lucca is about 1/2 an hour away. Pisa is within easy reach & the beautiful coastal scenery of the Cinque Terre is about 1&1/2 hours although it would be best to make an early start if you want to walk any distance on the coastal path.
Overall, Castagni d' Oro makes an ideal base if you want to explore the area on foot & by car. Alternatively, if you prefer to take things easier it is the perfect spot to relax & enjoy the views.

We stayed a week in Bagni Di Lucca and in this beautiful bed and breakfast. It's a perfect place to unwind and relax. Especially in the summer this little town is breathtaking. This village is situated at the top of a mountain and the view is stunning. When you get up in the morning and you open your window you can enjoy the sunrise IN your room. Even though it's the same sun it has this special, magical glow around it and you become ZEN..
Breakfast in this B&B is more than enough and these people are really friendly and warm. As soon as you get there you feel comfortable and at home. We very much enjoyed our week in Brandeglio and we are SURE going to come back!!

Room Tip: both rooms are perfect

We stayed 4 great days in this beautiful house in Brandeglio. The village is amazing and undiscovered, as are the mountains around. It is a bit of a drive up the mountain, but you really get away from the masses of tourists wich overflow Pisa and Firenze.

I have stayed at this B & B three times now, I find the rooms comfortable and the breakfast enjoyable. The B & B is in the small friendly village of Brandeglio, which is situated at the top of a mountain. Once you have reached the top, stunning views are to be found. It is an ideal base to visit the local cities, towns and villages.

If you want to experience Northern Tuscany this is a good location. Many winding valleys within easy reach by car. Lovely wooded walks to explore in the immediate vicinity of the accommodation. Spectacular walks with fabulous views if you are prepared to climb above the tree line. Bagni di Lucca is a charming village with interesting cafes and Roman remains to explore on foot. Tread where Byron and the Brownings have gone before. The medieval walled town of Lucca is only 45 minutes away by car and is an enchanting Italian town with many churches and towers to explore. Superior accommodation with lovely evening meals available on request, contributed to a most delightful holiday.
