3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2007

We stayed at Casabianca last year and had a wonderful time. The accomodations were immaculate, the service great and the food wonderful. Unfortunately, our October 2007 visit was a dissapointment. The apartment was not clean, it was mouse infested and the restaurant was just so so.

I would like to apologize for the incident reported, I will be an inquiry about the episode indicated, with my staff and myself.
I would like to remember at my Guest that Borgo Casabianca is situated in the beautiful Tuscany country with big open spaces, where it is possible that can to happen some unpleasant little adventure.
It seems impossible for me, that the apartment was not clean, because the thing most important for us is the clean of the apartments of our Borgo.
I am surprise that the Restaurant was just so so for you, because I would like to tell you that the Chef and the Staff are five years that worked for us and they improve our menus year after year.
I would like that Mr. JMG44 come back to stay at Borgo Casabianca and I offer their a weekend free, so I hope to meet their for to explain the event and to taste the best dishes of my Restaurant.

We have stayed at Borgo Casabianca from 3th to 5th on Nov.
The hospitality is very nice.
Hotel's restaurant, Tinaia, offers the typical Tuscan cuisine, to be tasted in the characteristic atmosphere of the original cellar with its structure and equipment of the rooms: "Torchio" (ancient wine press) and "Botti" (ancient wine barrels).
And especially the original olive oil is excellent.

We celebrated our wedding at Borgo Casabianca from Aug 31st to Sep 3rd together with 100 of our guests. Guests came from 17 differents countries South Africa, Europe, the Caribbean and the USA.
It was a pleasure to organise the whole event together with the team of Casabianca. Our wishes were catered at their best and the result was amazing.
The service was good, the food excellent, the Borgo is stunning and the rooms and apartments were a delight for all.
The setting of Borgo Casabianca is also breath taking and so romantic - if you are looking for a Tuscan wedding this is the place to be!
Borgo Casabianca see you again for our anniversary ;)

This is a fantastic hotel set in beautiful Tuscan countryside. It is a mix of hotel accomadation and self catering apparatments. We stayed half board and our room was large, decorated in traditional style with beams and tiled floor and a nice bathroom.

We were able to eat outside each night in the 'Cloister' restaurant which always served excellent food and had a good selection of wines.

Hotel also has an excellent pool with views over the surrounding countryside.

Staff friendly and helpful.

It's not close to anywhere really which is part of its charm and you need a car to get about and see places. The nearest town is Sinalunga and that was probably the least impressive town of the ones we visited but if you have a car you are within easy distance of places like Siena, Montepulciano and Cortona.

It's not cheap, but it is a fabulous place to spend time.

We had such a fun time in Tuscany, and never wanted to leave the countryside. We suggest starting in a big city (florence or rome) if you are touring around and ending in the country. Casabianca's easy lifestyle and the cute small towns do not generally make the larger cities look as appealing to visit. :)

As you can see from the pics, it's the most beautiful villa and grounds! If you see their album of the run-down farm it used to be, you'll be amazed how much work they put into it. BTW, the villa was restored and turned into the current hotel in 1999. So still feels very new, nice furnishings, clean and well maintained.

Our room was in the main house, and quite large - it had a sitting area when you first walk in, then up the short stairs to our bedroom and bathroom. Had a room safe, A/C, and comfy bed. What more can you ask for? Oh, and very good, clean maid service.

We stayed in room 34, and our friends across the hall in 36. Both rooms were the same, and very nice.

The staff, esp Francesca, were super friendly and nice. The restaurant is GREAT. We had both lunch and dinner there, and the prices very reasonable. The food was delicious and you had quite a few options, but they do not change their menu at all. So going out to eat once or twice is recommended.

We did not do the cooking class or rent the mountain bikes, but we did see people going fishing and we took advantage of the very clean and beautiful pool.

Our disclaimer... I definitely recommend Casabianca, but think there are certain groups that may prefer it vs others. Groups that would do really well at CB: families wanting a week getaway and want a more 'all inclusive location', or people wanting a couple nights stop in the country on their way north or south while traveling. If you're wanting to be wine tasting and touring around for a few days using a country villa is your 'home base', the location could be a bit better. Its very close to montepulciano region, but not chianti. Siena was probably an hours drive? San Gimignano was about 1.5 hours.

Overall, we thought Casabiance was beautiful! Exactly what you hope for in a country villa, and the scenery was just like the postcard pictures.

Also, August was warm, but not unbearable. Most days were in the mid-high 80s.

Other info:

Casabianca is a bit pricey, so you tend you expect quite a bit. Therefore, I'm not giving them a 5 rating because:
- Charges for internet are quite high (10 euros/30 min)
- Location, which cant really cant be helped, is a little further from a town than we would have preferred. Would be nice to have something 5 min away, or within walking distance (esp after you're out to dinner and want to be drinking wine!). Thats just our personal preference, nothing the hotel can 'fix' or do better.
- Breakfast is GREAT, but would be nice if they offered a warm dish or two (like eggs, sausages, etc). But the pastries, fresh fruit, yogurt and cereals are probably more traditional tuscan breakfast food- ?

About the tuscan countryside from Casabianca:
- ALWAYS get the address, or better yet- GPS coordinates- for where you want to go. And dont leave home without GPS in the hills of Tuscany!!
- Il Cassero in Senalunga is a great place for dinner, when you want a short venture out. Senalunga was about 15 min from Casabianca.
- Montecino is very close to Casabianca and better for a day (or just half day) of wine tasting than heading into Chianti (which is about 1.5 hours drive!).
- If you go to Chianti, our favorite winery was Casa Emma. Really nice guides, good wines, free tastings and more of a small-medium vineyard. Also, right down the street is a GREAT restaurant for lunch: La Locanda di Pietracupa (via Madonna di Pietracupa, 31. 50020 San Donato in Poggio. 055-8072400). Nice terrace eating, 10euros/main dish, and their rosemary potatoes are beyond delicious!)
- San Gimignano shouldnt be missed! About an hour from Casabianca. Eat at Beppone (via delle Romite 13). They have great food, and a nice outdoor terrace. Skip Radda, but dont miss SG.

** Bring bug/mosquito spray with you everywhere when visiting Tuscany in the summer!! **

From a two weeks, I am on holiday in Italy. During the first week I staied in a beautiful Borgo in Tuscany, Borgo Casabianca, in the hearth of Crete Senesi, because I was guest to marriage of my great friend. The suggestive and romantic Borgo is very fit for marriage ceremony and his staff is very kind and professional. I am stay there so well that I decided to remain on entire week. The sunset was very wonderful and in the ceremony dinner we ate very good food in a fantastic atmosphere. I fall in love of Borgo Casabianca and I think that I will go back there every time I will be in Italy. The borgo is very quite for relax after work's year and city' s stress.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The 18th-century manor house, in this 4-star Tuscan hotel, has three rooms and six suites, some of which still have original frescoes. Attention to detail makes this little village quite unique, from the rooms to the suites and from the pool area to the restaurant which serves local Tuscan specialties and has an excellent wine list. The renovations carried out on the village have brought Casabianca back to its former splendor and involved not just the buildings, streets and gardens but also the farm lands and the olive groves. The production of oil, which was once the farm's main activity, is still alive today and the result is an excellent D.O.P. Terre di Siena extra-virgin olive oil: a precious flavor of Tuscany. From the hotel there are splendid vistas of the charming Tuscan countryside towards the Montalcino hills, Mount Amiata, the Crete and Siena. An unforgettable spectacle. ... more   less
