I loved our stay in the La Mirandola Hotel. The food was awsome, the rooms were cleaned every day, the wellness center met our expectations. The biggest advantage out of all were friendly, easy-going and sociable staff, who were willing to give us a helping hand every time of day and night. We could spent lovely evenings in the social room, where kids were entertained by 'animazione' while adults could talk, drink, play cards and watch tv. The hotel is nearby ski slopes. For more exprienced skiers suitable pistas were a bit futher. The drawback I found most annoying was bathroom, which seemed a bit uncared-for.. All in all, the place is lovely and worth visiting.

We were hesitant after being dropped in Tonale, but Claudio arrived a few minutes later to drive us 5 minutes up the mountain to the remote Mirandola Hotel. The hotel was clean and the room was big and warm. Claudio also took us to hire ski equipment and arranged lift passes, which would have been very difficult otherwise. Although he spoke English information was never very forthcoming and luckily our fellow guests helped answer questions. We enjoyed excellent snow and could ski into the Mirandola in the evenings off a blue run but it was a good 5 minute treck out in the mornings to get to the piste. There was a wellness centre, however there was a charge even for paying guests and it was only open for a couple of hours in the evening so we were never able to use it. We were half board, and although the restaurant in the old section with vaulted ceilings had ambience, the food did not live up to expectations (same potatoes swimming in oil every night) and we suspect the waiting staff were on commission with the drinks (not included). The wine list was extensive but quite expensive and the staff were quite insistent in recommending a bottle each night. We also found a bottle of water out on the table the second night, which we assumed was complimentary as we hadn't ordered it, but we were then charged. There was no price list available for soft drinks and we were charged for a bottle of water left on our table another ight that we didn't drink. Our rest time in the afternoons was also plagued by noisy Italian families on our top floor, some of which had more than one room and left all the doors open using the hallway as an extension of their space. The sound travelled between rooms and again it was left to other guests to try and get them to shut the doors and make less noise. Overall we enjoyed the holiday as we had good skiing and great fellow guests, but the hotel didn't quite live up to expectations.
