“Miramonti; Passo Tonale”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2013

We have just returned from Passo Tonale staying at the Miramonti and are very dissappointed with this hotel which is definately not worthy of its 4 star rating except in its location and its wellness centre which are both excellent.
The rooms are Tired and somewhat basic and the walls are thin which means you hear every little noise from adjacent rooms and fellow guests walking along the corridors, the lounge area is uncomfortable and can be cold so take plenty of warm clothes if going to this hotel.
The Food was poor and un-imaginative with deserts being the same every night. The staff are un friendly and in one instant even forgot to bring a fellow guest her main meal until they were reminded.
I would rate this hotel as a 2 / 3 star but definately not 4 star.

Rooms look like they fell through a time warp from the 70's. But decently comfortable and warm enough, and if you're doing it right then you won't be in the room much anyway. A bit noisy on a couple of nights, from the bar/disco and kids running up and down, but not too bad.

The food is a bit average, nothing special but it keeps you going. They try to make it sound better than it is and try to talk you into ordering the grilled cheese (it's quite nice actually). Don't dare order a drink from the food waiter, or order anything other than beer, wine or a soft drink from the drinks waiter! They put all the single tables together so we all got chatting, much better than reading a book. Our departure time was 5:20am and they apparently laid on breakfast for us - this turned out to be a dry biscuit and a pot of jam, I kid you not. If you have an early departure, make your own food arrangements!

Wifi is rubbish. It's only available in the lobby, and a bit in the bar if you're lucky. It regularly wouldn't connect at all, and even when it did, it took ages and was very slow. OK for the occasional facebook update but don't even bother trying to Skype etc. It is free, just ask reception for the password, but I would have rather paid for a decent service.

The ski room is downstairs, which is a bit of a hassle to get in/out of in ski gear. But the lockers are very good, one per room complete with lock so a lot more secure than other places I've been. There's plenty of space for skis/board, poles, boots, helmets etc.

Access to the slopes is excellent, it doesn't quite qualify as "doorstep skiing" but as close as you could get. The slopes and school meeting point are right across the road and a small car park, about 50m. It's also right next to the ski rental shop.

The spa is excellent, several types of sauna, jacuzzi, showers, etc. It's clothing optional so wear what you like... generally the Germans bared it all, the Brits kept their cossies on, and the Italians went half way. Some days it was virtually empty and others quite crowded, especially when they did an Aufguss. There are signs everywhere saying please keep silent but it depended on the other guests really, sometimes there were lively discussions and sometimes you'd get nasty glares and a "tsk" even for opening your mouth to say ciao.

Overall not a great hotel but the proximity to slopes and the spa made it an awesome holiday. If that's what you're after then it ticks the boxes, and it's cheap, especially for single travellers. But don't see the 4* and think that means much... remember star rating is based on facilities, not quality.

Fantastic location directly across from the lifts to get you off each morning. Great Wellness Centre also. On the downside, the food was not good. Chips practically every night and same choice for desert every night too.

The rooms are not a bad size, but the noise element is quite bad. In our room 112, you could hear water running down the pipes in the walls whenever anyone had a wash/shower/used the loo etc etc. They had a pianist playing in the lobby of the hotel every evening and whilst this was nice, if you were trying to get to sleep it was not so good as you could hear him when you were trying to get to sleep!

We had a great holiday, but basically it's great if all you want is access to slopes and a good sauna, otherwise in need of some refurbishment and DEFINITELY revisit it's menu. Hotel Sport Vittoria down the road is better, but they charge horrendous single room supplement whereas The Miramonti doesn't charge one at all - another consideration to take into account!!

Would I stay there again? Only if I couldn't get into the Sport Vittoria and if I had to take into account the single room supplement.

Room Tip: Try and get a room on the top floor as you probably won't suffer from too much noise from the re...

The location is amazing, right near the slopes. The issue is that its not a four star as described but a lucky 3 and maybe a 2. The two single beds pushed together creaking were not ideal for our honey moon, and the continues partying in peoples rooms with thin walls was another hassle!

I would recomend the location and the staff are nice, but the rest lets it all down

Just returned from SKI holidays from Passo Tonale. The Hotel was over then I expected after reading of some not good reviwes. The SPA is very good , dinners are different each day ( only the buffet style was missing - it took too much time for service of meals ) . The location is excellent for SKI. The lobby is large . The main problem is WIFI a lot of times did not work or worked only in the lobby. Rooms are simple but comfortable. We can recomend the hotel to all people who want to visit Passo Tonale.

Closer to two than four stars. Reminded me of The Soviet.

When I was a child my father brought me on for a trip to Russia under the Soviet era. Everything looked old and grey, even the things that  were new. Miramonti looks like that. Grey, ran down, tired. Possibly "fixed" interiour in the 70-ties. Not since.
And everything, from the carpet in your room, to the waitress' dresses are dirty.
We even inhereted the toilet paper of some former guest. The restaurant bear resemblence to moveable cantinas for roadworkers, and I have had better breakfasts in tents in climbing base camps.
It is sad to say that this is the worst hotel I have had the mispleasure to stay with, anywhere in the world this year.

Sorry.
