The first thing you notice about Skipper is it's excellent location. It's the only restaurant in the main strip that locates itself above ground level (you are actually on the roof terrace!) and therefore you get treated to excellent views across the bay. Especially if you're lucky enough to get one of the perimeter seats.
My wife and I visited Skipper twice during our week in Baia. To say the two visits were poles apart is an understatement...
On our first visit we were made to feel welcome and the food was excellent. I ordered the local Sardinian Platter for starters and it was enough for 2, 3 or even 4 people to share! Very good value for money. There is a resident guitar player/singer who does what can only be described as glorified karaoke but he was good with a decent enough voice and decent guitar playing skills.
We left satisfied.
However, on our final night we decided to revisit Skipper and found ourselves feeling very unwanted. The waitress who was due to seat us kept us loitering around the stairs, with no real purpose, for ages. It was clear there were tables spare but they weren't in a rush to seat us. When they eventually did seat us we were totally forgotten about! After 10 minutes of watching other couples being offered menu's & drinks we upped and left and went elsewhere (Barracuda - very nice restaurant only 100m away!). It wasn't really THAT busy either.... (plus it was the same guitar player going through the same repertoire....)
So, my review ends with this: if they're bothered, you'll have a good night. If their minds are elsewhere - eat elsewhere.... Ciao!
