“relaxing break”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

I took my two younger children as traveling companions and we had a lot of fun.
Being a 4* hotel we were well looked after and surprisingly the treats didn't cost the earth. The mini bar prices are the most reasonable of anywhere I've been and I was able to positively encourage pool side snacks.
Tea on the lawn was a treat but remember the locals don't actually drink tea like English people do.
Supper on the lawn overlooking Rome was marvelous even though our waiter treated us to the chefs specialty Roman version of carbonara ... ewes milk isn't to our taste !

The Villa is walking distance to Frascati even in flip flops or light sandals despite the very uneven pavements.

Rooms are comfortable even thought we perhaps should have taken two rooms rather than squeezing two and a half into one. Don't forget mozzie repellent !!

Hire a car and check out the scenic routes to the nearby Lake Albano and a bit further to the designer outlet at Castel Romano - http://www.mcarthurglen.com/it/castel-romano-designer-outlet/en/

Do be careful on the GRA as the entry and exit slips merge suddenly quite unlike UK.

The pizzeria at the end of the drive does takeaway if the menu is a bit too adventurous but having said that we had a lovely meal with good wine and lots of laughs on our last night.

The little restaurants in Frascati overlooking Rome are great fun and very lively and really cheap !

I can really recommend this hotel.

A couple of minor points were : the cable TV had no English channels, the wifi was a little sporadic or just lots of patience and multiple logins to actually connect, breakfast was too pricey for two lazy kids to miss almost every day, the A/C is controlled centrally so don't fiddle with it !! and there's no kids menu but you can always ask for a plate of spaghetti ;)
NB I just clicked fitness centre and kids activities by accident ... I didn't see any

Room Tip: our room was fine in the annexe but no balcony or view, you can ask for that I guess

The location of this hotel is convenient if you travel in summer, need a pool and want to maintain yourself around the area of southern Rome.
The complex comprises a 16th century Villa build by a Cardinal, improved by other owners with majestic frescoes and monumental public areas. Most of the frescoes were ruined in WW II but some have been restored. Some rooms are in this main historical building and the rest are in anexes connected underground. The rooms are all of contemporary refurbishment.
The pool is crossing the street, in a large garden.
We had a suite of average size and small bathroom.
WIFI worked very well throughout.
Breakfast was fine and so was dinner served on a terrace facing the valley below.
The air conditioning is very weak and they shut it off from 3 AM to 7 AM which, with 35 degrees outside daytime, makes you sleep very bad and feel as in a 1 star hostel.

This 4* hotel was a great place to stay and couldn't believe this was the place when driving up the road. Staff are excellent and will take that extra step to fulfil your needs. Pool was a stones throw away, but despite around 20 sun beds, we found that we had to sit on the grass a few times. There were two weddings during our 3 night stay which is great to see, but as its situated in the middle, it can be a bit noisy.

Dinner is very pricey, but to make up for it, there is a large range available at the breakfast buffet.

We stayed at the hotel for a week and will not come back again.

Arriving at the location, we had high hopes since the lovely view over Rome and the building itself was amazing. However, we soon found ourselves frustrated. Our first night we wanted to stay in and eat at the hotel, but was told that we had to eat outside since the inside was booked by a wedding. I said that we did not want to sit outside to be bit by the bugs, but were told there were no such problem, even though they burned candles around everywhere the eating area to prevent this....

We wanted to unpack our clothes and hang them up, but the closet had a horrible stunk, so we just had to close it. It smelled like someone just vomitted in it. They came to clean, and even after that it still smelled really bad and our clothes could not be hung up. Finally after 3 days (after I wrote a complaint to the travel agency) things speeded up and the closet was washed so we could use it.

The shower was another thing. We had to stand in a very slippery bathtub and the water came out everywhere except out the right end so we could shower. The hose was old and broken and we had for the first days stand on a towel to not fall and break something, hold the shower in the hand and try to get water in the right direction. The floor and walls were more wet then ourselves...

After the travel agency called and complained on my behalf, I got a phone call where they wanted to make sure that everything was ok, and if not I should let them know. By that time they had changed the hose and the shower was working better so I just said its ok.

We wanted to enjoy the pool, but there were so very few beds compared to the people coming, so we ended up just leaving after laying on the grass for a while. Not comfortable at all.

The service was very different from person to person, and I said so when I left. The lady admitted that it was a bad start the first days, but I was still given the bill on all little items from the minibar, like some bottles of water etc. to pay for.

I payed, left and will not come back. Bye the standard also regarding the food this is a three star hotel, and I will not recommend others to visit.

We knew we were in for a treat when we arrived, travel-weary, at Villa Grazioli, at 10.30 PM, after a heavily-delayed flight and a crazy drive out of Rome. Within 15 minutes of looking pleadingly and hungrily at the receptionist, we were being presented with complimentary Prosecco and dishes of beautiful, fresh, local food, despite the restaurant having closed before we got there. The stress of the journey melted away as we drank Frascati and looked over the lights of Rome shimmering in the distance.

This experience typified our stay. Staff were exceptionally polite and helpful. The setting was stunning. Breakfast was a banquet that is going to make my Weetabix look very sad tomorrow morning. The room was spacious and cool, with a state-of-the-art bathroom. The pool was in a beautiful setting and very well looked after. We couldn't believe that we could afford the place.

We went into Rome twice and the hotel's shuttle service made this very easy - and cheap. Guests should also make the effort to explore the other Castelli towns aroundLake Albano. They are within 15 minutes' drive and are gorgeous.

We stayed at Park Hotel Villa Grazioli for 6 nights. It is a stunning house and the views are outstanding in the surrounding area. We are a family of four and had two rooms in one of the annexes, The were very clean and well furnished. The breakfast menu is vast and very good quality. They provide a bus service into Frascati which is excellent as there are a variety of restaurants there to choose from. The drivers are all very friendly. There is also a train station in Frascati from which you can get a train into Termini in Central Rome. Its very easy and convenient. It was lovely after the hustle and bustle to come back to some tranquility. The pool is lovely and kept very clean. Beach towels are provided by the pool free of charge. The poolside bar is a little pricey though.

We stayed at the Park Hotel Villa Grazioli for three nights on a short break to Rome. It was easy to get to - one train from Roma Termini for a very good price, and when we arrived in Frascati, we called for a pickup and they were there in minutes. Though our room had no view, it was comfortable and cool. Almost faultlessly clean, except for one fly the housekeepers had missed on the door way as you entered the room. We took advantage of the free shuttle service in to Frascati every day - as it was simple to arrange and very quick. On our first night, there was a party somewhere nearby which meant that we had no choice but to listen to some pretty awful karaoke into the wee hours of the morning - and as the air conditioning is turned off at 11pm, you have no choice but to have your window open. We asked if they had ear plugs to borrow, and they didn't so we were offered a room on the other side of the main building for the night, which we accepted. The karaoke did not return the next night. Breakfast was fine - and despite previous reviews that said wedding parties we tended to take it all if you didn't get their early enough - we didn't experience this. The pool area was relaxing - and we took advantage of this quite a bit on our little visit. All in all - a place we'd return - it's a welcome change to the hustle and bustle of the centre of Rome.
