“Fabulous Hotel super location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2010

Book a room with a balcony and sea view and be blown away every morning with the view across the bay of Naples with Mount Vesuvius in the background.
This is a loverly old manor house converted into a Hotel retaining loads of old world charm.
The staff are loverly and have remained employed with the Hotel for a long time as we have noticed during several holidays over a long period.
Super location two minutes walk to the village of Sant`Agata with bars for drink after dinner.
If you have time in between excurtions ask for a map of the many walks available nearby . You will be back.

Me and my partner stayed at the hotel Jaccarino in Aug 2009. Looked at the reviews on here before proceeding with booking and noticed the mixed reviews. However took the chance and have to say that I was very dissapointed with Hotel Jaccarino. The staff were very unfriendly and avoided eye contact at all costs especially the American speaking receptionist that someone has already mentioned on here.

We had to upgrade rooms on arrival as the one that had been booked was not very nice. Had no light let alone air so upgraded to a balcony room which if you stay here you must certainly go for even with the extra cost.

Have never been half board and shall never again after this experience. The diner was really not very pleasant and the service again very unfriendly. Italy has some of the nicest cuisine but here it is very poor and a dissapointment. Waste of time and money.

The only other thing to mention is location. The location and views are beautiful but so are that of Sorrento and especially the amalfi coast. I would recommend staying in towns such as Positano or sorrento rather than Sant agata Sui De Golfi. The bus links are brilliant and scooter hire is available. Do not hire one if you are a novice though. Driving in Italy is pretty much a free for all and can be dangerous.

Our first time to Italy, the location is fantastic, the view from a sea view balcony is spectacular especially at night, the staff are superb (especially the barman and head host). Sorrento is a 15 min drive by car. As other reviewers have said, drinks are pricey, but the friendly faces make up for it! Wander into Sant' Agata if you want to save some pennies! Rooms are a good size, very clean and comfortable. Recommend a trip up vesuvius, boat ride over to capri, a drive to amalfi and a look at pompei! Anyone looking for a good base to explore the Bay of Naples should stay at this hotel!!!

Be carefull when you book. Unless you get a seaview your rooms are likely to poky and like ours could be overlooking the laundry. Beutifull veiws from the bar terrace but couldnt afford the drinks prices. 5 euros per drink and if if you had a mixer that was another 5 euros. Lovely bar in the village.though, the Buenos aires run by georgie who couldnt do enough for you. Meals were ok starters lot nicer than main. Ok for 1 week but on a 2 week stay very repetive.

A lovely hotel set away from hustle and bustle of Sorrento so very peaceful after days out exploring the likes of Pompei, Vesuvias, Amalfi Coast and all the other interesting places to be seen. The staff are friendly and helpful and nothing too much trouble, food in the restaurant offering a good choice, nicely served and very appetising. The staff were always smartly dressed and the layout made us feel we were dining somewhere special.
Lift to all floors but still steps to negoiate to the rooms as the 200 year old original building is a villa gradually extended over the years.
Our room, although on the small side, was very comfortable and cleaned to a high standard. The shower in the bathroom caused problems as it proved impossible to prevent water going everywhere so thank goodness for all the extra towels (changed daily) to mop up the excess on the floor - not sure if this was just a problem for us or occurred in other rooms.
The lounge is huge with comfortable seating but very under used, the reason being that the price of drinks is astronomical so people tend to take a stroll up to the village. This is our only complaint about the hotel as after an excellent meal what could be nicer than to sit in the lounge/bar to enjoy a relaxing drink and socialise with the other guests but not at extortinate prices. The loss of revenue must be substantial so think again owner and then it can be reported that you have the ideal hotel.
All in all excellent with just the warning about excessively priced drinks.

We thought that the hotel was in a lovely location, after reading some very negative reviews regarding dogs howling, and cocks crowing, how can a hotel be held responsible for such things. First impression of the lounge and reception area , was nice bright and clean. staff were helpful and freindly. The bedroom was a little dark , which cannot be helped as it was in the eves, the bathroom was in need of updating, although the view over Naples was amazing especially at night. We have been to Italy several times and the food was average and not the best. we have experienced, but was always served hot. Also read that some people had found it a struggle to get into Sant Agata , we think they must have gone the wrong way , as it is a nice stroll down a footpath that takes only two minutes. There was little entertainment at night but this could have been because we were slighty out of season. Pool area lovely, lovely views, very relaxing. Buses are a little unreliable if going to Amalfi or Positano, but found them reliable into Sorrento. We will be sure to return.

We have broken our golden rule of not returning anywhere a second time, and have just spent a magical week in Sorrento, or St Agata to be precise. After our first visit two years ago, where we stayed at this wonderful hotel, we could not wait to return, and we have not been disappointed! The view from the terrace of Vesuvius is worth the trip!
The same wonderful staff are still there, and you cannot fault the excellent service, not only in the restaurant, but the bar and reception as well. A special thank you to "two scoops", who made us laugh every evening trying to persuade my husband to have dessert! The rooms are kept spotlessly clean, and each one is individual, not like the modern boutique hotels!.
Although it is a little way out of the town of Sorrento, and can be a bit quiet for some, that is exactly what we look for, away from the constant bustle. However, there is an excellent courtest bus that will drop you in Sorrento, and the local bus service is frequent.
I am sure that we will reurn again some time, as this has to be the nicest hotel we have ever stayed in.
