Very good hotel with easy access to Sorrento town through complimentary shuttle service of hotel. Great views of sorrento and bay of naples, excellent and helpful staff. A liitle more variety in food menu would help especially if you are on an all inclusive package

We were there at the same time as Devina G. We had a great room overlooking the sea. The staff members were very friendly and very helpful when asking for information to make connecting travel arrangements. The tours offered by the hotel were excellent. If you have a chance to take the Capri tour, I would higher recommend it. What a beautiful place! There is a small town just a short walking distance from the hotel with small little shops and restaurants. The hotel is not actually in Sorrento. It is in the town called St Agata. There should be better directions on how to get there for people arriving by car. Otherwise, this is a very nice place to stay. If it had not been for the trouble we had finding the hotel, we would have rated it 5 stars, instead 4.

We have just returned from one week at the wonderful Grand Hotel Hermitage, and what a magnificent week it was! We couldn't have chosen a better hotel to stay for our first visit to Italy. On arrival members of staff were friendly and welcoming and through the week they stayed as helpful and friendly to us as could possibly be asked for. The room we had been given was a beautiful room with everything you could need there; including a view that was out of this world. The hotel was immaculate both inside and outside. Overall the Grand Hotel Hermitage was the perfect place to stay, with the most helpful staff and brilliant facilities.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the bay of Naples got the best views.

Had two nigts this month and loved everything about it. Spectacular views. Swimming Pool lovely but too cold for me to try out. Service perfect and the free shuttle service a real help.
Charming walk to the nearby village St Agata de due golfi where we were able to buy a really scrumptious panini from the small delicatessen we found there, smothered in cheese, meat and mayo for a song. .Ate in the restaurant one night and was superb. No complaints.

Room Tip: must have a sea view!

We booked this hotel on a) BA website availability and b) tripadvisors generally excellent reviews...

On arrival we realised that the website was a little deceptive in its images as often is the case. The hotel is very much 'in the Italian style' meaning built i the 60/70s and feeling a little dated, lots of ceramic tiles, traditional furniture, tea towel style towels etc etc.

We flew to Naples and then took the €10 Curreri bus to Sorrento, we then got stung another €50 for a taxi up to the hotel - the hotel later said it should have been €30/35!

The hotel is 8 km out of Sorrento up a long and winding road, which may seem a problem, but the hotels regular shuttle bus service overcame this and we never tired do doing this journey as the views were stunning.

The hotel is perched high on the hillside and the views were amazing, make sure you get a sea facing room and higher up.

I have stayed all over the world and never experienced such great staff, everyone went out of their way all of the time. I guess this is why a lot of the guests had come back time and time again, some we heard for 35 years!

Despite the rooms being dated they were spacious and spotlessly clean. Take a 4 gang socket, only 1 socket in our room.

The hotel is 10 mins walk from Sant'Agata de due golfi, which is a nice small town with a few nice restaurants, check out Tripadvisor reviews!

And now the negative point..... OK you can't move the hotel closer to the sea and why would you? Or you can't as a family business find a million euro to turn it to a mass chain bland hotel, but you can sort out the breakfast.... The coffee was awful, I can't believe that in the land of coffee, they serve such rubbish from a machine, juice was also out of a machine and terrible, fruit salad from a can, dried out croissants, unripe fruit, sloppy scrambled egg and frankfurters. The yogurts were good though! There are lots of negative comments on Tripadvisor and we heard lots of other guests grumbling about it.

We only ate in the restaurant one night, we had the set meal and it was nothing special, I'm glad that we weren't on a half or full board package.

Wi-fi coverage was OK, but you kept having to put code in which got a bit annoying, although there was a PC and printer available.

Minibus shuttle was good and reliable, didn't get too booked up, but should maybe do with a few more runs in the evening. Franco was great! Could do with a couple of seat-belts fixing though...

In summary, if you can get over the slightly dated feel, it's worth it for the service and views, but come on Hermitage, sort the breakfast out, then you will probably be worthy of 4 stars...

We have just returned from a weeks stay, and found this hotel to be spotlessly clean, very comfortable and the staff very friendly. An earlier review mentioned that it could do with an exterior coat of paint and a little bit of maintenance around the pool, and I agree, but some how this all adds to the charm. Yes, it is a little out of Sorrento, but the views make up for this. We could find little information about Sant'Agata which is a five minute walk from the hotel, it does have a few very nice restaurants including one with two Michelin stars, however, the food at the hotel is good for the occasional "night in".

Room Tip: A sea view room is a must.

I stayed here in October 2011 ( am behind the times when It comes to technology ) and had a fantastic trip!

I used this hotel on the recommendation of a Friend who was getting married in Sorrento - in fact, all of the guests who attended the wedding stayed in this hotel, and Renato deserves a huge thumbs up for his assistance to us all in that time.

He was in constant commuincation with me via email about my stay and arrival, and was super helpful throughtout the stay.

Our group was made up of Irish and Welsh - and we stayed during the World Cup, when Wales beat Ireland, and the hotel staff joined in with the few of us who managed to make it up to watch the game as it was the morning after the wedding!

Cannot recommend this hotel enough - free shuttle into Sorrento, helpful friendly staff and excellent accomodation

Room Tip: All Rooms Superb ( upon visiting other rooms our group stayed in )
