Brogan's Bar & Guesthouse
Ranked #7 of 9 Trim B&B and Inns

We loved Trim, Ireland - we loved BROGAN'S! Staff was unbelievably helpful - we arrived very early but they went ahead & got our rooms ready & let us go in. When my sister called from the U.S., they always went to find us or took great messages. When the whole town's internet was down (small town, small ISP), they let me take over the office to finish up some business & print out our boarding passes. They were wonderful, wonderful, WONDERFUL! Food was excellent - both in the small bar & the wonderful restaraunt. County Meath is amazing in itself and Brogan's felt like home. I cannot recommend this place enough - we stayed in England, France & Ireland on this 5-week trip and I can tell you that there was no place with better accomodations, better service, friendlier people, just overall great than Brogan's Bar & Guesthouse!

We stayed one night at this friendly and comfortable inn. First, the rooms. They were pretty small but comfortable and included a tea/coffee setup. The standouts at the inn are the pub and their restaurant. The day we arrived there was a big rugby game on so the pub was full of locals. It was great having a pint and watching the locals enjoy the game. Then, that evening we had a gourmet 4 course meal. The restaurant is nicely decorated. The meal was absolutely fabulous from the appetizers through dessert and coffee. The next morning we had a complete Irish breakfast including yogurts, cereals, etc. Our stay was thoroughly enjoyable!

Everyone at Brogan's was very nice, and the room was fine for the low price we paid. The inn itself and it's layout is absolutely charming. The skylight was a bit bright, as someone else mentioned, but of course we were jet-lagged and trying to sleep midday. My biggest beef with the place was the noise, which was either from the courtyard either from late night visitors (even regular talking on weeknights was really amplified off the stone floors) or in the morning (when empty kegs from the pub/bar were rolled onto a truck around 8 am). I think both of these issues can be easily remedied by clearing out the courtyard by a decent hour on weeknights, and scheduling the rolling kegs a bit later! To the inn's credit, when I called the bar to complain about the noise, they quickly and politely had it checked out on quieted down. The pub was really great, and the position for checking out Trim is perfect. The town itself is really cute and has a lot of "real" stores and establishments. The great shower water pressure was a big plus!

Rooms and pub just average. Light was the biggest problem. Lights from the courtyard lite up the room, but the worst was the skylight with no shade.

Brogan's was an easy walk from Trim Castle and the other ruins of Trim, was right by the shopping in Trim, and best of all was above a great Irish pub owned by the owners of the guesthouse. To give you an idea of the authenticity of the pub, we were there on Christmas Eve's eve and when we came in there were three people at a table in the corner playing traditional Irish music. Over the next 3 hours, one by one, people came in and met up with the band and when we left there were seven members playing just the same as the first 3 had been. The rooms were nice, with some old features (such as giant old doors) kept for history's sake. Breakfast was scant, but the whole of the place was quite grand.

VERY highly recommended - stayed here during a golf trip from England.

Absolutely perfect place to stay to get a bit of the real Ireland, with comfort. Self contained Bar/ Pub, restaurant (much better than you could ever expect, both setting and the food)
& excellent entertainment (Gerry Tully - singer/ guitar player)

This is a 10 out of 10 - far better than some of the impersonal corporate hotels we also stayed at (e.g City West - noisiest hotel i've ever stayed at)

If you want friendly atmosphere, the craic, lovely rooms, great food and super entertainment (weekends) look no further - as the Irish say ' that was grand'
