Our last two nights in Ireland were spent at the Highfield House in Trim, Ireland and it was a wonderful ending to a memorable family trip. The hosts were very friendly and had good suggestions on where to eat and a fun pub with Irish music to visit. In fact, while we were at the pub, they walked in! The rooms were very nice, clean and quiet. The grounds were beautiful and fun to walk around. Our breakfasts were delicious!

Highfield House was a wonderful place to stay. We stayed here on our two nights of our visit to Ireland. We absolutely loved the home and the hosts, Eddie and Geraldine. The home was BEAUTIFUL and the hospitality was first class! I would highly recommend this b&b. From our room we could see Trim Castle (just across the road) and several other awesome sites in Trim.

We loved this place, Geraldine and Eddie were great hosts!, Rooms were clean and spacious. The living area in the house was just gorgeous and very cosy. We travelled all around Ireland looking for a fire with no luck, Geraldine and Eddie were happy to light their fire for us with no questions asked! The courtyard is gorgeous and the house is close to centre of town and right across from Trim Castle (a spectacular view).

I just returned from a 21 day vacation in Ireland. My main goal was to find quiet and picturesque towns/villages where I could spend time praying, walking, sightseeing. I was so blessed to stay at the Highfield House in Trim. Where do I begin? I've visited Ireland six times and have stayed in MANY bed and breakfasts. This one is FAR above the rest! Here are some of the reasons why:
*Extremely soft and comfortable beds (pillowtop mattress cover)
*Gorgeously decorated bedrooms
*Powerful shower and modern bathroom/sink fixtures
*Flat screen tv in each room
*Soft fluffy towels that smell heavenly
*Extra touches: cotton balls, wash cloths, tea/coffee in the room
*EXCELLENT location - view of Trim Castle and river
*Amazing footpath right across the street for beautiful walk along the river
*Pretty gardens in front yard
*Greeted on arrival with homemade scones and THE BEST RASBERRY JAM that I have ever tasted!
*Delicious breakfasts
I cannot speak highly enough about this bed and breakfast. I will definitely be returning next summer and staying longer!! Thank you for your wonderful hospitality!!

We had a great experience in Trim and especially the Highfield B&B there during our recent 2-week trip around Ireland sightseeing and visiting relatives. Trim is a very interesting and convenient place to visit. It is not well known in the US but is quite special. Interesting because it has the largest castle in Ireland, remains of an abbey, catherdral and other historic sites, and convenient because it is within an hour of Dublin airport. A good destination after the sleepless overnight flight or before the departure. It is an especially peaceful, relaxing spot with the River Boyne running through town.
It can also serve as a base for touring the sights of the Boyne valley (Newgrange, Tara, etc.) and even for avoiding the traffic & parking of Dublin by taking the 1-hour bus ride there (with a pick up across the street from the Highfield).

We spent 2 nights there at the end of our trip and found the Highfield B&B to be the accommodation highlight of the trip. From the warm welcome upon arrival, through the helpful departure and special favor after returning home, everything was delightful. Highfield occupies a beautiful 18th century stone house with high ceilings and tasteful décor. The location is right across the street from the castle and the Boyne and handy to restaurants, shops and pubs in Trim.

Most distinguishing feature of Highfield however is the proprietors, Geraldine and Eddie Duignan. They were wonderfully hospitable, provided helpful advice, accommodating & genuinely caring (she offered hot water, lemon & honey to my wife who was suffering with a cold). They were even helpful after we departed since it turns out that we left a tote bag & they graciously forwarded it to us back home! We found it so enjoyable there that we stayed an unplanned second night (that the Duignan’s graciously accommodated).
We heartily recommend the Highfield B&B and are already planning our next visit!

The Highfield House was a classy B&B stay with a comfortable room and helpful advice from Geraldine. THE place in Trim and close to the stunning castle.

We were looking forward to our stay at Highfield, but were disappointed. The house and location were great, but it is pretty worn out. The towels supplied were worn out, had holes in them. The TV remote was broken, taped together. Rooms walls were pretty thin, could he couple next door, enough said. While the rooms were big the bed was push right into one corner which made it difficult for one person to get in and out of. This was a complete mystery. While we're talking about the bed it was not comfortable. All of this resulted in a poor nights stay.

This is a shame as this place held great promise. It is a nice house in a good location. Trim is a nice place and Highfield is just across the road from Trim Castle.

As a note to the owners, please update things. I know this is a cost to the business, but based on the other ten places we stayed, this is overdue.

As a result until the place is done up a bit I cannot recommend Highfield as a place to stay.

“Hi
I am the owner of Highfield House and I am extremely upset and stunned to see this review. I was shocked when I read this review as the rooms and house are updated on a regular basis and cannot understand why you would say this. Our house is an 18th century building with alot of character maybe you where looking for something more modern. All linens and towels provided are only the best of quality. We here at Highfield House like to make sure that all our guests are given only the best of experience’s during their stay at Trim and I am extremely disappointed that you could say this about Highfield House. We provide only the best of everything and feel that this review does not illustrate what Highfield House has to offer and continues to offer to its guests.” Most people who come and stay at Highfield house have complemented us on our wounderfull 18th century guest house and their experience, please have a look at our other guests reveiws. We are deaply sorry you didnt enjoy your stay at Highfield House but maybe this was not the guest house for your taste.
Regards,
Gerdaline Duignan

Kind Regards
Leona
