“Absolutely fabulous!”

My husband, 13 year-old daughter and I had just come into Dublin in the early morning and drove immediately to Trim, where Geraldine very kindly greeted us. Our room wasn't ready yet, so she gave us tea, coffee, delicious scones and we wound up having a wonderful conversation with her. We met her husband the next day, who was just as kind and accommodating as Geraldine.
The house is gorgeous -- with high ceilings, lots of light, and nicely decorated. It's literally across the street from the castle, and within an easy walk to the town. The breakfasts were fantastic, and Geraldine bakes all the breads -- my daughter and I felt she made the best brown bread that we had on the trip.
We wholeheartedly recommend this place. It was the perfect spot to start our trip and we'd go back in a second.

This was my fourth stay at Highfield House, which says it all really. The welcome is always the most friendly, the rooms are comfortable and the bathrooms clean. Breakfast is good. The building is a stunner, with an almost perfect location opposite the castle.

My fiance and I couldn't believe how wonderful Highfield House was. It was a last minute booking in the fall, but I'm sure it's packed the rest of the year so book ahead of time. The rooms are very quiet, cozy and elegant. We sat in front of the fire and used the free high speed internet to catch up with family. The Lady of the house was the best part! We had a lot of trouble with our car rental company and she solved it all. A beautiful B&B in a great town - we can't wait to return!

Highfield House is great. Its rooms are really nice with big bathrooms ensuite and plenty of amenities. The windows in our room were huge with a beautiful view of the river. The tv was nice and big, there was plenty of room for clothes, and the hostess was very friendly and informative without being overbearing. She was also really flexible with us about checking out later and eating breakfast later (she said that she doesn't like to rush people out). The town of Trim was really great too, and the castle tour was interesting.
My only complaint was that the Wifi was pretty spotty, it would come and go in odd waves.

We stayed with Geraldine and Eddie at their beautiful B&B just across the street from Trim Castle. The grounds are lovely and we felt right at home. They provide a made to order breakfast. There are peaceful walking paths all around. We had a car but didn't want to drive into Dublin. We took the bus (there are 12 a day) and enjoyed the freedom of not having to lug a car around with us. For more details you can check my blog: http://edjoseph.blogspot.com/2009/09/busin-to-blackpool.html - there are no ads or anything just a retired couple that enjoys traveling.

As other travelers have noted, Trim is the perfect location for your first or last night in Ireland. Although it's not much fun learning to drive on the other side of the road when you are jet-lagged, the drive to Trim was short enough, and the countryside so inviting, that it made for a very manageable start to our adventure. Highfield House is just a very short walk into the quiet little town for food and sightseeing, so no need to drive anywhere once you arrive. Trim castle is very interesting, and you can buy your heritage card which is a good deal if you are planning on visiting other historic sites. Our room was small but attractive and very well maintained. We were very comfortable and enjoyed our brief stay at Highfield. Free computer access in the lobby was something that we didn't find many other places we stayed on our two week trip.
