My wife and I stayed at Highfield House on our trip to Ireland this summer. We could not have asked for a better place to stay on our first night in Ireland. We had flown into Dublin that morning and spent the day at Knowth and Newgrange, both great archelogical sites. The trip to Trim was pretty easy and Highfield is very easy to find. It is right across from the castle. The room was very nice. Clean and very comfortable. Our host was very accommodating and the breakfast was fantastic. We would highly recommend Highfield House to anyone.

The Highfield House was a nice first stop on my 3 week vacation in Ireland. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly and offered tea. We declined and was shown our room. The floors squeak loudly and the stairs are bare wood so a lot of noise is made when traveling to and from your room. I thought this was quaint and typical of an older building. The location is wonderful, just down the street is Trim Castle. The town is small with few amenities but it was perfect for the first stop. We spent one night in a twin room which included one double bed and one twin. The extra touches in the room was nice. The bathroom I thought large and the claw footed tub was a treat. My mother thought the room too small and was upset with no shower. In the morning we ventured downstairs for breakfast. We did not receive any "grand tour" when we arrived so it was by guess we walked into the correct room. I thought it was a little confusing but we managed well. The breakfast was good and we left immediately after to continue our travels. Overall, I liked the location and the extra touches in the home to make it comfortable. There is a computer in the lobby that offers internet connection. It is up on a wall so you must stand up and type, no long searches - but it met my needs to drop a line. I will probably stay here again.

I just came back from having stayed at the Highfield Guest House. It is absolutely beautiful. The landscaping is beyond gorgeous, with a lovely large front yard, flowers, trees, bushes, and stone architecture leading up the driveway. The view from the moment you step out the front door is of the Yellow Steeple, Sheep Gate, Boyne River, and absolutely cute donkeys across the road.

If you walk down the drive and look to your left, you see historic Trim Castle about a block away, and if you keep going you have access to all sorts of restaurants and shops within a few blocks. The guest house is quiet enough that you feel a sense of privacy, yet within easy walking distance to anything you may want to do.

The room we stayed in had a large bed with a nice, firm mattress. I never had anything but wonderful sleep the four nights we were there. The bathroom is modern with a nice shower that gets hot very quickly, and a mirror over the sink that has a magnification mirror set into it. The windows let in a pleasant breeze and overlook the charming private gazebo and fountain below, also surrounded by beautiful landscaping.

The breakfast choices were awesome! Toast, bread, and warm scones were always offered along with jams and currants and butter, and served alongside orange juice and tea or coffee as soon as you sit down at one of the tables in the dining area. The menu is wonderful. My friends raved over the full Irish breakfast, while I was very impressed with the continental breakfast, which included a sampling of four different cheeses, eggs, and toast. In addition, you could get eggs cooked almost any way, omelets, or help yourself to cereal and fresh fruit. I usually was so full that I could skip lunch!

My friends had told one of the proprietors that they were leaving very early the next morning, and she had breakfast cooked and waiting for them to just heat up when they were ready! Now that's service.

The rooms were clean, and the linens were fresh and very nice to use. The hosts were not intrusive in the slightest, except to make sure that we had everything we could need or want.

I would and will definitely stay here again, as many times as I visit Ireland!

Stayed in Highfield House one night and it was the lowest place of all the places we stayed on our trip. Bed was saggy and linens just didn't look fresh - they probably were, but in comparison to other places we stayed, it was a little shabby.

My friend and I ended our trip to Ireland with two nights at the Highfield House before flying home out of Dublin. The owners were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Our room was large, with two comfortable beds, coffee, tea making service and an ensuite bath with shower. The breakfast was very, very good, and the room it was served in felt like we were in a large, beautifully decorated manor home. We had a very early flight our final morning and the wife very kindly left us a breakfast tray of cereals, fruit and yogurt for us outside our door. We had easy access to the sites in Newgrange and Tara, as well as Trim Castle just across the street . The cost of 45 euros per person was very reasonable for the quality of the lodging. We would definitely return here!

We stayed 2 night at Highfield House. The building and grounds are lovely and it is conveniently located to local attractions. Our room however, was very small. It was difficult to maneuver around the oversized furniture. The 2 lamps were placed on the window sill and dresser due to lack of space. Also to match, a tiny bathroom. Our room faced a very busy, noisy street. In their defense though, our other family members had a much quieter room. The bed was comfortable. The breakfasts were good, offering a variety of well prepared food. If I were to stay in this area again, I probably would look into another hotel.

We were extremely and pleasantly surprised how nice this B&B was. Located just across the street from Trim Castle. Walking distance from the town center. Our hosts were extremely friendly and nice to talk to. The B&B has Victorian charm and was very well maintained. Our room was comfortable and the breakfast was excellent.
