On my recent trip to Irekand we went to Trim and had lunch at the Trim Castle Hotel.

I had the Tuna pannini lunch special. It had a tasty tuna and cheddar filling, was grilled nicely and served with two salad choices. With coffee it came to about 11 Euros which I found to be a very reasonable price.

The food portions were reasonable as were the prices. The service is decent and the atmosphere was pleasant.

Everything about this venue breaths castles, medieval manor and brave of the heart! The hotel is right in the heart of Trim and overlooks the ruins of Trim Castle, the sight of filming of Braveheart the movie. The atmosphere was relaxed, but staff was attentive. I would go back in a heartbeat!

We stopped at the Trim Castle Hotel pub for a quick bowl of soup and cold beer. The soup was excellent, the beer cold, and the staff chilly. The best part was relaxing with a marvelous view of the castle. We would return.

Interesting ruins of a Norman Castle, but the best part was the guided tour of the keep by Sean. Wonderful insight into the history and conditions of living in the castle.

It's hard to find good food in Trim. This isn't the place, either. The restaurant/bar was too busy, with overwhelmed staff and average (at best) food. It was fine in a pinch, but it wasn't as good as Franzini's on the other side of the castle.
