“Lovely cottage near Trim!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 25, 2013

On our tour through Ireland, we wanted to stay a b&b to get that traditional Irish hospitality/ breakfast. It was super cute. BIG breakfast at a big farm table with the other guests. Very welcoming couple owns this adorable house. It was very quiet and small, so great if you want to be quiet and relax. We went to an Indian restaurant for dinner in the town and it was delicious!

We were staying in Trim for our last two nights on this trip to Ireland. We were not able to get accommodation for 2 nights at the same B & B. Our first night was spent at Tigh Cathain. Upon checking in, we were asked to fill out our menu choices for breakfast the following morning. This was the first time I have encountered this practice in our many trips and many, many stays in Irish B & B's. I chose the fruit bowl for breakfast and it is fabulous. The whole experience at Tigh Cathain was wonderful but this breakfast was the highlight.
Our room was lovely and spacious. WiFi was in and out but we discovered that in the sitting room we had a good connection. There is much to do in the Trim area so planning on several nights is definitely worthwhile.

Perfect place to stay for the beginning of our trip. We flew into Dublin, grabbed our rental car and spent the day at Trim Castle. When we arrived at Tigh Cathain around 2PM, we were greeted by the gracious owner, Marie, and shown to our clean, comfortable room. Everything was quite homey and clean.

The next morning we were served a delicious breakfast and had a nice conversation with Marie. She gave us tips for our day's sightseeing activities and provided s with maps and tour books of the region.

All in all, a quite enjoyable stay. We will definitely return on our next trip. Than you Marie for a wonderful experience!

A friend and I traveling in Ireland stayed at Tigh Cathain in October, 2013. Marie welcomed us to her quiet retreat right outside of Trim. Her house was filled with family mementoes, which made it all the more homey. Her breakfast menu was varied to accommodate omnivores and vegetarians (like me). Breakfast eggs came from her chickens and were graced with herbs and flowers from her garden. The table was set so beautifully it seemed a shame to eat from the dishes. Marie set the B&B bar high for the rest of our visit.

Thanks to Marie for sharing her lovely B&B with us. We were at a stage of our trip where I needed a great place to stay, and I got it. I wish we could have stayed longer. Trim is an interesting place to visit because of Trim Castle and Bru na Boinne.

My husband and I stayed at Tigh Cathain in late September on our way to Dublin. I wish we would have been able to stay longer. Marie was very pleasant and welcoming. The room was crisp and clean--very comfortable. Enjoyed breakfast. The house is full of memories reflected in the furnishings, china, figurines, etc. The location is outside of town but since we had a car, this was not a problem. Loved the dog, Susie! I highly recommend this delightful B&B!

I, my wife, and sister-in-law stayed at Tigh Cathain for 3 nights in late September. We had just finished a hiking tour in County Galway and our plan was to explore the historical sites in County Meath before finishing our Ireland trip in Dublin. Tigh Cathain was the perfect location! Marie was an excellent hostess who provided us with all the "inside information" we needed. She made us feel very comfortable in her lovely home. We all enjoyed the great breakfasts and slept very well in the comfy beds. Our room was very spacious and we also enjoyed the use of the guests' sitting room to enjoy a glass of wine while discussing the events of the day. We would love to do it all again!
