We have just returned! Clean, very kind people, spledid view, really nice breakfast, unfortunately the room was small and the extra bed was really uncomfortable, but they changed it immediately as we asked. Nice pool.

Excellent location, helpful people, amazing view and great hospitality! The swimming pool was a little bit cold but it was nice if you consider the high temperature of Volos city. The staff is very helpful. The only dissatisfying was the plumbing of the room. They could renovated also as hotel has been.

Room Tip: Nice view to Volos city!

I stayed for a weekend at the hotel during a medical convention taking place there. It's a nice friendly place, with great environment. Near villages central square but not on the main road, so very convinient and quiet. Very clean. Pool was empty - its filled after the 7th of June. Expensive due to the convention but reasonable prices all year long. I would definetly stay there again. Hint: Visit "Λαγήνι" , a little rock-bar just before Portarias central square, 300mt from the Hoyel.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the pool are with the nicest view,

Just got back from a long Easter weekend at Pilion. Xenia has been fully renovated and looks really nice. Has an excellent location for walking to the village and a great view over Volos although most rooms overlook the mountain. Rooms are cosy and new but have some of the most user unfriendly plumbing fixtures and toiletries provided could be far better than they are. Other than that the employees were all excellent and food and service was efficient and helpful. Bar and breakfast was very good and a relaxing atmosphere. If ever in Portaria, definitely a place to consider.

Excellent location. Very very clean. Very helpful staff. Very nice rooms. Fantastic view. Very nice restaurant with THE view. Special areas for smokers and for playing cards or board games. All in all, the hotel one should choose to stay!

As all other reviewers have mentioned the view of Xenia Palace is unique!
The hotel has been refurbished and Portaria is a wonderful place to visit either in winter or in the summer. I have stayed in Xenia Palace many times and have been more than satisfied every time. It is by far the best hotel in the area. The most important element of the 4-star hotel is the "5-star" hospitality. Great staff at all areas, especially Mrs. Mosxoula Petala ,the hotel manager. Rooms are quite spacious and bathroom very clean with bathtub. Of course i highly recommend the hotel and my husband and i are looking forward to going back again soon!

Room Tip: Select a room in the second floor in the middle, the best view ever!

Stayed here for a night in May 2012 taking part in a "walking weekend" organized by a firm working togethet with the one where my wife works. Pelion is amazing, definitely worth a longer stay and this hotel, just at the beginning of the mountain, perched over Volos, is a good base to explore it. Our room was large and pleasant and the public areas warm and cosy, exactly what we needed. Very family friendly by tha way. The walk was from Melies (where we went by coach) to Tsangarada, and it was extremely pleasant and refreshing. Unfortunately we had to leave early and hastily due to a family emergency which ruined the whole experience, but we would definitely return.
