“Very friendly Villas”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2013

Having just returned from a fabulous weeks holiday at the Villa Anna Studios I can only say that we were made to feel very welcome by both the owner and his family along with the other guests that were there that week.

When we first arrived and realised that our grandson was the only child staying at the Villa Anna Studios we were a little nervous that he would upset other residents as he was the only child. This was soon to prove nothing to worry about and he was given the nickname of Nemo. We found the cleanliness of the apartments, the pool, the bar excellent.

The menu at the bar was not huge but was always freshly cooked and very tasty. Highly recommend the Greek "Bangers" absolutely delicious as where the Greek doughnut balls (Loukanthis?) when Grampa made the batter for them specially for us. So good we went back for more the next day. The Yannis gutbuster did all it said in the description. It was enough for two if you added a small portion of chips. Beer was always served in a frozen glass which helped immensely in keeping the beer ice cold.

Didn't have a problem with the bar opening late at night, we were almost right on top of the bar and didn't hear a thing. However, I do agree that the opening hours were a little strange in that the bar shut at 6 and reopened at 10.

Seriously hoping to go back to Samos next year and wouldn't hesitate to stay at Villa Anna again!

Room Tip: Such a small complex there is nothing really to choose from in any of the rooms.

My partner and I have returned from Villa Anna in the last fortnight and can not fault the complex. Certainly, for what we paid (and have been to various islands) this was by far the best value for money. It is an apartment. In Greece. It will be fairly basic and I feel it rather naïve of other guests to fault it, e.g based on 2 hobs in the 'kitchen' area. We loved the fact there was a toaster so perhaps we are easily pleased! :)
Anyway - I agree to a certain extent there were people who enjoyed the bar more than others but we found this to be the friendliest apartment we have ever stayed at and even though we were not barflies (I am pregnant) we were always welcome to join in and we met some absolutely lovely and kind guests - thank you if you are reading this as a few of you were very kind to me in my 'state'!!
Back to the importance of the apartment and not the guests... fantastic - would go back. Gorgeous pool area, beautiful to be sat on a balcony surrounded by orange trees (could have been a little more private as another guest wrote) and we never heard a peep from other guests. The doors are pretty soundproof in my opinion.
The walk is fairly long, but you need exercise especially with all the dining. It is lovely to walk off the food and stretch the legs after lounging all day. I wouldn't say it was a scenic walk, but my partner would so each to their own! It is flat and not hilly so easy - and it does seem shorter the more you walk it!
Beach a ten minute walk and it is gorgeous, so peaceful; added extra of swimming in the sea whilst planes take off a few metres overhead and everyone enjoyed it!
oh and a very basic supermarket up the road (ten min walk if that and you could purchase xmas decs!!) but it provided us with two delicious pasta dishes which we loved. Thanks to the two hobs.
Town is gorgeous and a real mixture of nationalities - Ibiza this is not! This is a quiet unspoilt town and is to be enjoyed for that. Long may it remain.
Thank you Villa Anna and thank you to the guests, perfect.

Room Tip: Not sure you can choose, but i'd go with first floor.

This was our second visit to Villa Anna and it was even better than last year , mainly due to the other guests , now our friends .
Our welcome, by all the family, was as warm as ever and the studios had a few additions .The studios are still being kept spotlessly clean by Pasha.
As always the pool area was a very relaxing place to laze in the sun with the small number of fellow guests who chose to stay around there .
The bar stayed open both in the afternoon and evening as long as guests requested, enabling everyone who so wished to enjoy themselves there .
Yannis has changed his bar menu to try to include more Greek dishes . We sampled several different items and all were tasty .
The two barbeques we had at Villa Anna , one of which was put on as a special request , were the best meals we had on this holiday . However as last year we also found all the restaurants in Pythagorion were good , especially enjoying Thanassis Sister, Aphrodite Garden and Remataki restaurant on the beach .
We had a fantastic holiday , thanks to all at Villa Anna

My husband and I have just returned from our first visit to Samos. We stayed at the Villa Anna studios. They were typically greek, basic but had everything we needed. They were by far the cleanest studios we have ever stayed in. The maid was exceptional and even wiped up and put away dishes left on the drainer. We would have prefered more privacy on the balcony. The swimmming pool was very clean with plenty of sun beds and very pleasant to spend time around, although most of our time was spent on the pebbly beach. If there was something we would change it would be the bar opening hours. We have never stayed anywhere before where the bar shuts early evening and does not open again until after 10pm. We missed having a drink before going out of an evening. Also the bar was open until the early hours and the noise can be heard in the rooms because they are very close to the bar area. The noise however can be blocked out with balcony doors closed but you will need the air conditioning on . Have an extra ouzo as a night cap and the noise will not be an issue!
The walk into town is pleasant taking about 20 minutes. The more you do it the shorter it becomes. If you find the going hard there is the Pegasus taverna on the way. Again greek and basic. The food and drink here are good value. The harbour is perfect to spend relaxing evening eating, drinking and people watching. We recommend the 83100 restaurant who on a Sunday make the most amazing roast pork, crackling and potatoes.
Samos is beautiful and the Villa Anna was an ideal base for us.

Room Tip: Rooms on first floor have beautiful shelter from palm trees.

Just got back from two weeks at villa anna with my husband, what can i say we had a lovely lovely time, really did. Only gripe i have is the Manchester flight is no more and a coach drive down was a little bit too much for us.
We disagree with the comments some have put about the bar being rowdy at night, we are in our 60's and found it no problem, in fact it was lovely to see people enjoying themselves and not just motionless around the pool. we certainly was not part of any clique and feel this looks like sour grapes im sorry to say lovey!, we loved a brandy and a coffee at 11 each day, so why not the younger ones have a tipple at night.
The restaurants around the harbour were lovely and cannot explain how lovely the garlic bread was.
If the manchester flight was put on next year we would love to come back to samos.
but 'WHO' knows.

We spent two weeks at Villa Anna at the beginning of August. The rooms were very
basic but kept immaculately clean by Pasha. It was a holiday of two halves - the
first week was lovely - great chemistry between the guests - the second week was
not as enjoyable with a crowd of adults who spent many an evening at the bar
until the small hours making considerable noise - the main topic of conversation
the following day was how much alcohol had been consumed. Don't get me wrong, I
don't mind people having a good time but I had booked Villa Anna as a small and
quiet friendly villa - it fell short in the second week. I agree with many of
the comments made by monkey_ear particularly those around the Greek welcome and
the fact that if you didn't spend time drinking at the bar and if you were not
part of the clique then you were of very little interest to the staff (Pasha
aside).

I have also delayed completing this review a week or so since returning from Samos - It has given me time to digest and reflect on some of the comments made by other guests who stayed at the hotel at the same time. My wife and I are well travelled and were part of the 'clique" who had such a good time at Villa Anna - it was our second stay at the apartments . The best part of the holiday was meeting new friends and sharing experiences, at times with a glass of wine by the pool bar during the late afternoon or evening. Many of us in the 'clique' have pretty stressful jobs and found chatting, laughing and 'lounging by the pool' de-stressing. If it offended any guests then I offer no apology whatsoever.
Contrary to one or two previous reviews, this hotel is a great place to stay. Its position (20 minutes walk from town), clean pool, decent, daily cleaned apartments and hard working staff make for an enjoyable holiday. It is also very good value for money. Anna's son and his wife worked hard behind the bar and were friendly to us all. Anna's husband prepared us a fantastic BBQ on request which was superb - the staff even joined us for the meal - many thanks! Yiannis, his wife and friends also tried to teach us some Greek dances which added to the fun. Again, if the noise of us all having fun offended some guests, then I offer no apology.
Great holiday!! Thanks Anna.
