We have just been to Samos and stayed at Kasteli Hotel in one of the apartments. We are a little family with mom, dad and two boy aged 14 month and 2 years and 8 month.
We had a nice view over the sea from the balkoni and from the " kicthen " window we could spot the lovely pool. We had plenty of room and with the aircon is was just perfect. The owners were very nice and Kasteli Hotel is a place we would use again.

We stayed at the Kastelli Hotel in an apartment and had a view to die for, the apartment was really lovely, with a brand new fridge and cooker too, lots of room and we even had 2 balconies!!! The swimming pool was gorgeous, just the right size and not manic all the time, also a view to die for from that too, a lovely bar in the corner too, it was just so relaxing. You are only about 10 minutes from the town centre and everything going on so it was lovely. We hired a scooter to get around and it was brilliant and very cheap too about 8 euros a day. If you get the chance go and visit Kokkari on the north side of the island it takes your breath away. A must also is the waterfalls a bit further on from Kokkari, that is a fabulous day out, be warned though not accessable with a pushchair. The waterfalls go on and on it seems forever so make sure you take some shoes to wear int he water, its such a really fun day out. Back to the Kastelli Hotel, Peter is a real gem, fluent english and such a help. I would defianately go back to Samos especially Pythagorion, it was such a beautiful place and i absolutely loved it, would most defianately stay at the Kastelli Hotel again as it is insuch a lovely location. wonderful

Male 48 female 44. My wife and i are well traveled in greece and this is our second visit to samos(Pythagorian) we booked a 2 week stay bed & breakfast at Kasteli Hotel but were extremely disapointed with the accommodation.
The Thompson brochuer led us to beleive that a fridge would be supplied but was not the case so we had to hire one from the owner at €5.00 per day.
The room was very small and very cramped and smelt from the stack pipe in the bathroom/toilet because the fan was not working,i wouldn't say the room was clean, half of the wardrobe was screwed shut leaving minimal hanging space, the cleaner did her rounds at the most inconvenient times of the day, air conditioning was promised at 15.00 - 1800 & 1900 - 00.00 but oh no! there was no air con during the day what so ever and the temp was high 30's we were given air con at 00.00 - 06.00 which was controled by the owner so you went to bed in sweat and woke during the night freezing.
The breakfast was boring with insipid tasting coffee and watered down juice every day.
Our room was next to the owners apartment and he had some sort of ritual each day burning insence outside is door and the smoke would billow around into our apartment and it would almost smoke us out it was awfull.
The pool was small and over run with kids and the adults didn't get a look in.
Otherwise the location wasn't bad,it was a bit of a trudge up the hill every day twice a day,the view from the balcony was very nice, the noise from the pool was a bit distracting if you wanted to sit and read on the balcony,Peter the owners son who was amercan was very pleasant but i wouldn't extend that to his greek father who was very rude to us. Bar facilities were very limited Beer/soft drinks and packet snacks, this has to rate as the worst accommodation we have stayed at in 15 yrs of greek travel.

We have recently returned from a 2 week holiday on Samos, staying self-catering at the Kasteli. This hotel is in a lovely position, one side of which overlooks the sea towards Turkey. The other side overlooks the main road into Samos Town but although busy, we didn't find the traffic noise too much of a problem. We were lucky in that our apartment overlooked the sea and it was spotlessly clean and although basic as are most Greek studio/apartments, it was well equipped. This hotel is situated at the top of a hill which meant a 10 minute walk down to the town/harbour/beach and was at busy times quite hazardous as there is virtually no pavement but we happily put up with this inconvenience because if we hadn't been up there we wouldn't have had the absolutely beautiful sea views to wake up to every morning! There is an alternative route turning right out of the hotel and walking along the road a short distance to the start of where a footpath on the right leads down the hillside and if this is followed to the right again, takes you a very pleasant walk over the hill and then down to the beach. We preferred this route most times. The manager of the hotel is very friendly and extremely helpful and speaks excellent English with an American accent ! Samos is an absolutely beautiful island - we'll return !!
