From the lovely painted tables & chairs, beautiful sign (and indeed the intriguing name) to the location, this traditional ouzerie stand out amongst the neon lights of the more touristy tavernas along the harbour front. Maria (Thanasis' sister) is a real star as of course is her mother, Jocelyn and together with the music of husband Yiannis makes this a real family affair. Not only that, the food is wonderful!! Oh and did I mention that the food is wonderful as well?

Thanasis’ Sister is something different in the large row of harbor restaurants in Pythagorion, Samos. With very nice white-painted wooden tables and chairs, lots of plants and an open view of the clear blue Aegean harbor, just sitting there and enjoying the atmosphere and view is a treat in itself. Coupled with the very friendly reception by the Loulourgas family, and of course, the delectable food, this ouzeria is the ideal place to enjoy the taste, sun and sea of Samos.
As to tasting, the menu offers a wide selection of small traditional dishes (Greek meze), and all dishes I tried were among of the best I had on the island of Samos. It’s not the usual offering of suvlaki, tzatziki and Greek salads, but really many different and original dishes which you do not see anywhere else. The good thing: with the meze/tapas style dishes, you can try in abundance, without overeating. Do also try the sweets, the chocolate cake is to die for. All at very affordable prices too!
Also recommended: listen to the Greek music played by bouzouki builder Yannis Loulourgas and friends in the evening.
This is the ultimate Greece experience, not to be missed by any Samos visitor.

Remember this is not a restaurant - it's an ouzerie, so expect traditional multiple small dishes to share rather than a single large plateful, the waitress will happily help you choose a good combination of dishes. Makes a pleasant change and is a more authentic Greek dining experience. The location on Pygthagorio harbour is beautiful and great for people watching, then from 2100 onwards expect the rich tones of local bouzouki musician Yiannis Loulourgas and his guitar accompanist to sooth away a couple of hours.
