We stayed here for a week and were very pleased with the hotel overall. It was basic but it was so clean and the rooms were serviced every day. The pool area was fantastic with a nice little bar. Great location as it was close to the main restaurants and bars but nice and quiet at the same time. Only a 5 minute stroll to the beach too. The only disappointment was the breakfast- we ended up just going to get a croissant from the local supermarket which is 100m from the hotel instead. Next time we would try and request a pool view room.
Scooter and car rental places just up the road and was a great way to get out and see the island. Best places to visit for us were: Fiscardo- amazing little port/village, Assos- picturesque little village and Myrtos beach. Sami and Antissamos beach was also worth a visit.

Room Tip: Requst a pool view room if you can- it wil be quieter

My husband and I stayed at the Lorenzo Hotel for 2 weeks in August. The hotel is in a perfect position; minutes to the nearest sandy beach (2 sunbeds and a parasol 7 euros, very clean and a good restaurant/bar), a supermarket at the top of the drive and within yards of a wide selection of tavernas and bars. The hotel is VERY clean, the grounds are beautiful with lots of shade and the pool and surrounding areas are very good with plenty of sunbeds. On arrival we were allocated room 236; the room was ok and the bathroom was good for Greece but when we opened the door to the balcony we looked out on a brick wall which made the room very dark with no natural light; we had to move to the far end of the balcony for any daylight. We asked for another room with some natural light and were told there was nothing available until later in the week when some people were leaving. The hotel rep supported our request when we showed him the room and were were offered a choice of 2 other rooms 2 days later. We picked 107 - it was perfect with a large wrap around balcony and a window! Staff were friendly and helpful. Food and drinks at the pool bar were good. Breakfast was adequate; we took ours back to our room each day and had it on the balcony - a perfect start to another lazy day in the sun!! The hotel was definitely a 'no-frills' hotel but was perfecly fine as a base for a super holiday, can't wait to return.

My husband and I stayed at the Lorenzo Hotel for 2weeks in july with our 5year old son and couldnt really fault the hotel.
The rooms are clean and as we had top floor apartment, were spacious too.
The pool is a good size and pool bar served great food and drinks. We managed to get a sunbed everyday even when getting up late.
The staff were friendly and would help you if needed. The best feature this hotel offers is its location, very close to restaurants and the beach.Which benefitted us not having to walk long distance with our young son in the evening.
We could have eaten somewhere different each night for 2wks in lassi easily.Excellent food at 'Retseto'.
Would recommend this hotel to people who are not expecting too much(as Greece is quite basic)and who do not want to venture up and down the steep hills each night as some other hotels and appartments require.
Not much for young children except the pool but this is clear on the hotel info.
If we return to kefalonia in the future we would choose this hotel again.

Just back from 2 weeks at Hotel Lorenzo - our first visit to Kefalonia. Yes the hotel rooms were a bit dated but were kept very clean. Yes the bathroom/shower were very small but you dont live in there. We were 2 adults and 2 children and had room 302 on the top floor. My 15 year old daughter claimed one of the twin beds and my wife the other one. My 10 year old son and myself slept on bench beds in the dining area. My bench bed was too short for me so i asked for a bed to be put in the room which was done the next day. We found the stafff to be very helpful and friendly. Lorenzo has a great pool area complete with a nice pool bar - only downside was that folk staying elsewhere were able to use the pool and on occasions sunbeds were all taken. Due to this people were going down to the pool as early as 7am to reserve sunbeds although there was a sign saying not to do this.
Lorenzo is just up the hill from a nice beach and 50 metres from the main strip with shops etc all close by. Try Phaedra Restaurant 400 metres or so on main strip right hand side - really good food and service.

We stayed at the Lorenzo Hotel for 12 nights in June. It is safe to say the hotel is quite basic – I would guess that they haven’t updated much of it for a long time. However, our room was quite outdated but very clean. It was on the ground floor but as the hotel is built on a slope, it was actually raised. Our room was also on the corner of the building so we benefitted from a window on the outside wall as well as the balcony, meaning we were able to open the window and the doors at night to create a bit of a breeze. The shower had a tendency to leak a bit and soak the bathroom floor but this wasn’t a big issue.

The only thing I think the room would benefit from would be a fridge – it would be good to have somewhere to keep food and drink cool (there was a communal fridge downstairs, near the pool, but I didn’t trust that I could leave things in there to cool. Plus, it was a bit of a walk just to keep your water cool).

The breakfast provided by the hotel was a basic continental breakfast but there was always plenty of food available and the option of boiled eggs on alternate days was very welcome. There was plenty of indoor seating for breakfast and a few seats outside as well. The only problem with sitting outside is that it attracts stray cats to come and beg for food and this is then made worse by the guests continually feeding them.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly the barmaid who served us in the bar every night.

The pool was decent, always nice and cool but the seating went quite quickly in the mornings so you had to get there quite early! However, the beach is a two minute walk away so it didn’t matter too much. The beaches in the area are gorgeous and worth the trip, although they do get quite busy at the weekend when the locals flock to them as well.

As we went at the beginning of the season, the area was fairly quiet and the hotel was very peaceful. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from on the main strip, a two minute walk away from the hotel. Some are very good but there are also some to avoid (the one with false swans outside for example – awful service and really terrible food).

We really enjoyed our stay at the Lorenzo hotel – it met all of our needs and it would be a really good hotel if the owners were able to invest in modernising/ refreshing the interior and adding simple services such as fridges in the rooms.

Room Tip: See if you can request a corner room so you can benefit from the extra window!

Stayed in Lorenzo for a week in July 2013. It's very laid back and spotlessly clean and all amenities are on the doorstep. Out the door and left down the slope takes you to a beautiful clean white sandy bay with calm clear water. Turn right from the hotel and in a matter of seconds is the amazing, friendly Vagaletti supermarket which sells everything at very cheap prices. Hotel breakfast is served to you on a tray but you can help yourself to other foods such as yoghurt, fruit, juice, ham and cheese and they're happy for you to take breakfast back to your room to enjoy on your balcony. I didn't give it a 5 rating down to the room being quite dated and the bathroom was extremely small.

Room Tip: Our room was at the front overlooking the gardens and shaded all afternoon/evening. Pool views would...
