My partner and I stayed here from 24/09/2013 to 01/10/2013, overall we think Dionysos is a good hotel and would recommend it to others.

The good...the grounds of the hotel were well kept; clean, tidy and overall made for beautiful surroundings. The view over Lassi was amazing and certainly added to a sense of relaxation being able to sit out on our veranda to watch the sun go down.

The hotel itself was very clean, including the pool area and the public bathrooms. The rooms were cleaned daily and towels and sheets changed regularly. The rooms are self catering, which we didn't really bother to do, preferring to eat out but the facilities available would have been enough to keep us going should we have wanted to cook for ourselves.

We didn't have much interaction with the staff but we did have was fine and they were generally friendly and attentive.

The not so good...the mattress was very thin and did not make for a comfortable nights sleep. We thought the cost of using the safe (10euro deposit plus 10euro per week) was a little steep and also 25euro to keep our room later on check out day seemed costly when the hotel was half empty due to nearing the end of season.

We only ate breakfast at the hotel so cannot comment on the overall standard of food, but the breakfast was just mediocre. In hindsight we should have bought supplies at the local supermarket and took advantage of the toaster in our room.

Finally, the hill...my partner and I are reasonably fit people but it was certainly hard work coming up the hill, especially in the day time when the sun was still shining, I can't imagine what it would be like in peak summer. We also struggled to get our hired 4x4 up it on the one day it rained and had to leave it parked at the bottom.

That said, you certainly get the pay off with the stunning panoramic views and a chance to walk off you dinner! There are taxis in the town if you don't fancy it and overall it wouldn't put me off returning but may be less advisable to those who are less fit and not wanting to pay for taxi's or car hire.

Room Tip: All the rooms have sea views.

The scenery is spectacular from this location, all rooms appears to have sea views, I have walked up & down this hill quite a few times over the last 2 weeks, definitely need a courtesy bus as anyone with small children, walking difficulties or disabled would need to cost in 5 euros each way up and down hill for taxi - I do walk but in the hot heat do take care make sure you take water with you, there is 3 benches which you can take a short break, last part up hill definitely feel it on the thighs and calves. There is another route which we found on our second week when you walk from reception there is a road with a gate to your right - slight incline take road to right takes you down to a main road - if you turn left walk along the road there is a road which branches to your right taking you down to argastoli keep just going down is a nice walk and only takes you 20 minutes.
There is not a lot exchange places take your currency with you take 2% commission so same as home, in lassi if you need one head down hill turn right past 2 supermarkets you will see a place which advertises trips near medeteranean hotel - we did trip to 3 islands to left las with our rep it is 4 euros cheaper - thought we would have been picked up but you need to go down hill and get picked up at 7.45am in morning outside princess hotel you get dropped off back there.
If you can't drive you can get bus at 11am to argostelli at bottom of hill 1.5 euros each way - all the main places you can get bus at the station, or if just get taxi to bus station and then bus only 7 euros.
Agree with other people's comments so won't repeat on staff if you ask them they will definitely ensure they help you . The resort closes beg. October weather was glorious

We spent a fantastic week from 10th - 17th September at the Dionysos. Apartment was great, it had everything that we required and was kept immaculately clean by the housekeeping staff who straightened up the room, finished off our washing up(!) and changed towels each day. Will only repeat what others have said briefly about the lovely, friendly, hardworking team of staff, the owners Maria and Dennis, and special mention to Iffy and YIannis...believe us, you'll be on first name terms with them all before you leave. The views were spectacular, especially watching the sunset from the pool bar during the evening, it really was idyllic. Little warning though, the wasps were out in full force which we had braced ourselves for in September, but Iffy informed us that it was a bit of a freak occurrence this year and they're usually nowhere near as bad. The wasps also aren't as aggressive as in the UK, and clear off by early evening. Pool area and pool itself really nice, and the food at the resort was equally as good if not better than that served in Lassi, which was an unexpected treat, and all the vegetables etc are grown in their own garden! We don't usually go in for themed nights but had great fun at Hollis' 'rock night' with excellent food so would recommend this and the other evenings organised.
It was our first time in Kefalonia and we can certainly understand why it gets so many repeat visitors, the scenery is breathtaking and it is well worth hiring a car to explore all the wonderful villages, harbours and beaches, none of which were overcrowded. Antisamos beach is a must, truly beautiful, surrounded by mountains and crystal clear calm water. All the beaches are great, and in Lassi you're spoilt for choice.
We had such a wonderful holiday and would highly recommend Dionysos for all it's facilities, great staff and location (and just 10 mins transfer from airport!). Just go for it....but be prepared for the aforementioned hill, a tough climb up but manageable! Or go the taxi route :)

Room Tip: All have excellent sunrise/sunset views.

We had a week at the Dionysos Village in June and had a fantastic week. Firstly, Dennis and Maria are a great couple that has a well organised, self catering complex with very helpful staff - they all work very hard and are very friendly and passionate about their work. Iffy at the bar is fantastic and very interesting to talk to, Tony makes the best pizza's, Johno -great guy who organised a very special birthday meal for me and Maria no 3, again lovey and very hard working and not forgetting Costa on the reception, if you need anything he will be willing to help. The food in the hotel was fresh and reasonably priced and we ate there a few times during the week. We had fun at the Greek night, chicken night and Hollis night. The apartments were clean and adequate for our holiday. Early evening was perfect sat on the terrace admiring the beautiful view with a ice cold beer. The pool was great with plenty of sun loungers and an amazing view and we often enjoyed our lunch at the pool bar.
The resort of Lassi was nice but I was expecting it to be a bit more traditional but we enjoyed our meals at the Butler Restaurant.
Overall a great week, thank you.
Go on book it!!!

Lets get the dreaded hill out of the way first,it's very long and steep and worse than we expected BUT going down takes 10 mins and is ok AND you don't have to walk up. Pop into the shop and buy some groceries or get a taxi which we did every time.
The views are spectacular and without the hill you wouldn't see the beautiful view of the whole bay. the staff are wonderful and treat you like part of their family .The rooms are spacious and clean and comfortable ,are the food in the restaurant and snack bar as as good as anything we ate in the restaurants in Lassi .I cannot fault this place and even though we are still here until Saturday I have looked to book again for next year as we have fallen in love with Kefalonia and The Dionysos Village resort.

My wife and I have just returned (14/9/13) from a wonderful two weeks stay and the Dionysos. First of all I must thank Carlos for arranging some flowers for my wife's birthday, arranged at a cost but just a sign of how helpful the staff are.
We were shown to our room, Aphrodite 7, with superb views over the pool and the sea. The theme nights arranged by the mamagement, Maria&Maria were fantastic and good value for money. The food in their own restaurant was again really good and reasonably priced. We also ate down in Lassi, we found the best food/value was San Lorenzo, closely followed by Phaedra restaurant, Ammos, Retseto and Blue Sky. All good food and pretty much the same price-wise.
As for the dreaded hill, I didn't find it too bad at all. Going down was quite easy, coming up in the heat of the day another story altogether, forewarned is forearmed!
We also hired a car for three days and visited many other parts of this lovely island, again well worth the effort. Nearby Argostolli is easy enough to get to, 1.5 euros each on the local bus or 6-7 euros in a taxi.
Will we be back...........of course.

Room Tip: Aphrodite 7 was a good sized room, not a studio, with great views.

We enjoyed a week in Panorama Village, Lassi, last year and decided to return again to Kefalonia. This time we chose Dionysos. What a great choice. Views stunning of course and as good as Panorama but with better accommodation, restaurant, pool etc. everything was top notch. The staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms kept clean at all times. The hill is an ever present problem but a few purchases in the local supermarkets on the main road will get you a free lift to the resort. Would we go again ? YES!

Room Tip: All rooms have a sea view, balcony rooms are better for a bit more privacy.
