My stay at Babis Hotel was outstanding and comfortable. It’s a family-owned hotel (bed and breakfast type place), located in Karterados – a 10 minute walk to Fira. It is an easy walk. The hotel provides you a ride to Fira if you want. The bus station outside of the hotel takes you to the beaches. Very convenient.

Babis is the gentleman that owns and runs the hotel. He came and picked me up from Santorini airport, which was very nice of him. On the way to the hotel, he gave me a quick orientation about Santorini, things to do and the services of the hotel. Upon arrival to the hotel, he offered me orange juice and then took me to my room. Babis’ father is usually at the hotel if Babis is not there. His father is a great man, full of energy. Either he or Babis will give you a ride to town (Fira), where you can walk around the town for your adventures or catch the bus to Oia (Ja) or other towns. There is a supermarket on the way to Fira – very close walking distance from Babis. There is also a traditional Crete Bakery before reaching the supermarket. They have outstanding pastries and cookies (though not very cheap).

The hotel is cozy and feels very safe. Lemon trees are right outside the window while eating breakfast; chairs and tables are by the poolside; tables are outside for use to read, drink or work on your laptop. The wi-fi is available on the main floor and right outside – on the terrace. The room was comfortable. It’s basic, but it’s very clean and you have everything that you would need - A/C, mini-fridge, phone. They clean the room every day, change the towels, make the bed, etc.

The breakfast was very filling! It consisted of coffee or tea (and they keep on refilling it as you wish), orange juice, toasts, jam, butter, honey, Greek yogurt, cold cuts, cheese and cake. It was delicious and it did fill me up until late afternoon.

Babis will give you some guidance on things that you may be interested in doing. He is very helpful and will let you know if he can do something to help you. Last day at 6:00 a.m. he took me to the port to catch the ferry, which was really outstanding for him to get up that early and take me to the ferry.

Overall, the service they provide made the trip so much comfortable and worry-free.

Room Tip: Rooms close to the stairs can pick up the wifi signal.

Located just outside of Fira town, it isn't in the nicest area but definitely makes up for that with the accessibility to other places. The free shuttle is great, there is a bus stop right outside and the walk to town is only about 15 minutes. The Babis family are fantastic hosts! They were forthcoming with information on Santorini, different tours, transportation options and always very friendly. The rooms are on the smaller side but with a balcony and very clean. We had a great stay and would definitely return again.

Myself and my brother spent a weekend 16-18/09/2011 in Santorini, while we generally based in Crete. Got picked up from the port by Babis (and returned there on departure).Hotel 1st class. Lovely family, extremely friendly and helpful, 1st hotel I ever stayed in that had a refrigerator in the room which was perfect with the high tempetures. Also had fee air conditioning and free internet. Would recommend it. Inexpensive, clean, friendly with breakfast. As we were fit it didn’t worry us about walking back from Fira to the Hotel was good exercise anyway. Highly recommend the hotel would stay there again. No place is too far away from the public bus service which is well marked.

Room Tip: all rooms are good -

We arrive in the 00H30 ferry from Rhodes Island and Mr. Babis was waiting for us in the pier to take us to the hotel. Since it was our first stay in Santorini we ask Babis and rented a small car (I strongly recommend you to book the car in the internet since it is cheaper and you don’t have to deal with dishonest people). If you don’t want to rent a car you may take a bus in front of the hotel or ask the staff to take you to Thira. We found that the best beach was Perissa (12 km south) and we loved Oia in the north. The room was very clean and the breakfast included Greek yogurt with honey. The pool is very good but you have to careful with the marble stair in there…Many thank to Mr. Babis and his family.

Babis Hotel is family run and makes you feel like you are at home. We were picked up at the ferry and after 3 wonderful days dropped off again. Karterados Village is close enough to Fira to walk or Babi would drive us to town. Very helpful and easy going. We would go there again.
