“Superb and we did a first at the end too”
Reviewed June 26, 2011

What can we say after staying at the number 1 hotel last year and then had problems for months afterwards we felt we had to try number 2 and were a little scared that we had been a little premature and were dreadng it. Well we need not have as it turned a far far superior holiday to last September. The appartments were spacious and for the first week we had a superior appartment which had tremendous viewsacroos the mountains pool and the sea a big thanks to Maria for the upgrade. We say the first week because we loved it so much being up the other end of the resort that we extended our stay for a further 3 days and Maria and staff could not have more to help us in this. We met some lovely new friends and also realised the resort was far far better up this end than where we stayed last year. The staff were genuine and could not do enough for you and the appartments were far far better too. We are already looking at booking again next year. Yes a few people moaned about the lack of toaster the size of the pol and the fact only 2 nights a week having entertainment at the pool bar. But to be honest thanks to Eddy Nettie Delia and Thomas these were minor things as overall we could not fault the service or facilities. As for the resort we also Met Jan and staff at the Kaliana Bar and had a great laugh all the way through the holiday. We also visited the RBar as we spent alot of our time there last September. These appartments should be number 1 and not 2 as although they were not half board and did not have free air con the service and location and facilites were far superior trust us we have been to both. Finally would highly recommend this complex for couples and singles you wont be disappointed see you all again soon and once thanks for a great holiday missing you all already.

My fiance and i stayed in the older apartments and it was pretty much as described in the brochure. Basic, but very clean. The beds were comfortable and the maids cleaned every other day and did a good job. The only real problem we had with the room was the fact that the shower was so tiny you could not use the shower curtain as it stuck to you, also despite getting someone to sort out the shower head, it continued to flop towards the wall, so we ended up having to tie it to the shower rail. regarding the cooking facilities, there was no toaster and the only pan for boiling in was a large stew pan so cooking beans was impossible. These rooms would be so much better if these little things were improved.
The Staff were all very friendly, Delia,Nettie,Eddie and Thomas (not forgetting Maria on Reception), did their best to keep everyone entertained. The pasta night and barbecue night were good fun, and the meals we had there were delicious and very good value for money. The pool was nice too. The only thing we weren't keen on, was the fact the pool bar closed at 7pm so the only place you could have a drink, was at the bar at the front of the apartments, quite near to the road, and sometimes the traffic was annoying plus if you wanted a snack you couldnt get one after 7pm. All that said, the Rainbow is a nice friendly place to stay, If they attended to the small problems like the cooking facilities then they would make the holiday so much better!

We vacationed early in Greece and were happy to find Rainbow apartments. Everything else was pretty closed but even so, we would have stayed here. The apartments are big and very clean, well maintained and close to everything. Maria was extremely helpful throughout our stay which made it all the better.

Room Tip: Top floors have a better view

All I can say was what a great place to stay short of a hotel room. The apartment was big, with modern furniture well kept and cleaned every second day plus changes of towels, garden and pool are also well kept and clean. Maria and staff where very friendly and a great help with local knowledge. A five minute walk to a clean beach and local shops. Cannot pick any restaurant as we had some wonderful meals in which ever restaurant we visited. But I would highly recomment the Jasmin for a great chinese curry. We found prices a bit high also the drinks as we are from Ireland everything here is high that's why we where surprised. Stalis we enjoyed but for 2 weeks it is too long as there was no entertainment provided in local bars. We stayed last two weeks May but a few less restaurants and shops. Needed would be a push on entainment this would be more balanced holiday as theres more to a holiday than just eating and sleeping sitting on the beach for families also couples or if alone. We visited Malia but hated it's tackie bars eat at the buffilo restaurant good food. Visted spendalonga in plaxa taking the local bus service which is regular and on time plus cheap if we had done this trip through the agency it would have cost us nearly £100 as it only cost us £40 we where happy also the minon palace take the train it leaves u outside also a good way to see what the area is about pay the extra £1.50 you can get on and off where ever you want. Visited Star beach had a few great days there. Would be great for kids except the dangerous roads here also stalis and about anywhere else on the island seen several nasty crashes don't think they heard of overhead bridges, overall a good if slighly boring at night time most places closed by 12pm. We are in our early fifties would like a choice of bar entainment not every night but a choice would be nice. I would highly recommend the apartments and would go back again but a week is plenty. Visited the capital can't spell name nice but busy be careful with your bag also crossing road. museums worth a visit also the port area with it's walkout pier lovly views also take the local bus or taxi we found them to be cheap. Pet hate would be the quad bike they should not be allowed anywhere except on a field or dunes as what was originally built not in towns or cities. Crete should ban them as roads too narrow they are so noisy.

Room Tip: I would recommend a first or second floor

We chose Rainbow Apartments due to the excellent reviews on here and we certainly weren't disappointed. It was our first self-catering experience and loved it. Although it is only 3 star the staff make up for the missing two stars making the whole experience an enjoyable one. Would definitely stay there again if we were to go self-catering. The restaurants are very close and there is plenty to choose from close by just make sure you take plenty of money. Also be aware that there are mosquito's so take some repellent as we got bitten quiet a lot which was unexpected and very itchy.

Really nice apartments, you get exactly what you see on the photos. Towels and sheets changed twice a week, apartment cleaned every other day, the cleaners were lovely. Apartments were spacious (we had room 203, one bedroom apartment- standard) which overlooked the pool area. Basic kitchen with just enough utensils to make basic meals. Only problem with our bathroom was it was inside the apartment so had no window you could open (if you know greek plumbing you know what I mean!). Maria who runs the apartments was lovely, very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for her. Note to barman... please note that we do not need music every minute of theday, it would be nice to have breakfast without it thumping away. I have no hesitation in recommending these apartments and on the plus side, they are 2/3 mins away from beach, shops and restaurants so really easy to bob in and out of the town.

Only thing I would mention is the food, drink and ice creams at the bar in the apartments was on the high side compared to the local shops.

Wouldn't hesitate in going back again, very impressed.

Would highly recommend these apartments. We stayed in a one bedroom superior. Whilst it was still basic as is most accomodation in Greece it was spacious and spotlessly clean. Our only gripe was we had a bath with a shower attachment on the taps. Although there was a hook on the wall for this it would not stay up. This meant we had to have a bath and use the attachment to rinse our hair. Not a big deal but more time consuming than a quick shower. All the staff we encountered were very helpful and friendly. The location is also good as it was very quiet but only 5 mins walk to beach and bars etc. Found the drink prices in Stalis quite high at an average of 3 euro 50 per for a spirit and mixer and in some places 5 euro per drink. Unfortunately the weather was a bit unpredictable and we had quite a bit of rain. We were told by locals this has been their worst May weather wise for some time.
