“Items of clothing, make-up, jewellery went missing !!!!”
Reviewed July 21, 2012

just back from Aphrodite Villas, lovely apts and the Owner George is very nice BUT ourselves and all the other guests had a problem with the cleaners various items were going missing like makeup, costume jewellery, clothing, towels, one or 2 items eash time cleaners cleaned room also other guests had towels, bikins etc taking from their balconies as well as small items too from their rooms. Ofcourse we informed George who told us he was aware of this problem and he had difficulties sacking the cleaners because of their contract and that we should lock all our things in our suitcase or safe !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! not impressed to say the least, ok the items werent of any great value but the thought that someone can come in and help themselves to what ever they liked, I wonder how many other guests had things disappear without even realising.... Such a shame becuase the accomodation was lovely

At the last minute we were transferred to this hotel because the hotel we booked was full and although no one from the hotel was there to greet us, the people across the road called the owner and it turns out the keys were left out for us and the rooms were sorted. at the hotel we met guests who have been returning for 15 years because they love it so much, and my whole group understands why. The staff are friendly and would often give us free shots of sambuka. The rooms were spacious, the shower didn't have proper doors so the whole bathroom would get soaked, The cleaners would wake us up at 10 by coming into the room and were inconsiderate, the cooker that was provided didn't look very good, however this was not a problem as several good restaurants were near by. The owner of the Aphrodite also owned the Irish house pub a few minutes walk away which gave us discounted drinks and welcomed us as regulars. The faults that the hotel did have was made up for by the excellent atmosphere. I would recommend this hotel.

This looks very nice on the internet but the place is a disaster. We arrived about 11.20 at night to find it completely empty - no key, no note, nobody! After waiting a few minutes to see if anyone turned we phoned the 24 hour help line. Half an hour later the owner arrived and said we weren't supposed to be there until the following day. We showed him our accomodation voucher to prove the date, he said it wasn't an accomodation voucher and he didn't have any rooms!! Luckily at this point the lady on the 24 hour help line phoned back and asked if we were now in our room, at which the owner decided he would try and find one, which he eventually did. The owner was never at the apartments (he runs a bar on the front), and in our ten day say the poolside bar was never open, the rooms were never cleaned and the bed linen was not changed. Ideally located, but definitely to be avoided if you want any service!

Room Tip: All roome face the same direction (the pool).

Although difficult to find, the apartments are in a quiet location, but relatively close to the main bars and restaurants.
Rooms are large and clean, however cooking facilities are surprisingly limited for 4 star accommodation, Valerie, the receptionist/pool bar tender/cook is helpful and very friendly, as is Katarina the daily cleaner. The owner George is a typical Greek male! and therefore blows hot and cold.
Our major concern was the air conditioning, or ineffectiveness of it especially at a cost of Euro 50/week. The unit at 0.92kW is not large enough for the size of room. When we arrived the temperature in the room was 30 deg C. We put on the air conditioning and despite operating it whenever we were in the apartment (it switched off automatically when you removed your room key from the switch), it took 5 nights for the apartment to cool down to the set temperature of 22 deg C. If we had been there in high summer with temperatures of 40 deg C it would never have reached a comforable temperature!
