Stayed at the Filia Apartments in September 2009 (not 2010). Thinking of going back to Stalis as it is a lovely place. Having looked at other apartments, my mind keeps taking me back to the Filia as I know I will not be dissappointed there. The three brothers are all wonderful. We arrived at around 9pm at night to be greeted by George and Billy, George booked us in and helped us with our cases to our room, then took us back down to the bar to enjoy a free welcome beer with Billy! Our room was a one bed apartment with the biggest balcony ever, it was shared with the next room but we only saw eachother once so this wasn't a problem and it was big enough for all to use anyway. The apartments are in a brilliant location, ok so they are near a main road but I didn't hear any road noise! It is only a five minute walk into the lovely Stalis with loads of bars, restaurants and shops whichever way you turn, left or right. We walked into Malia one night stopping at the occasional bar, took us about 30-40 mins. Try the Filia, you will love it!

I have been here for the 4th time I love Stalis it has everything for everyone. Filia is family run, and is ideally located for the beach and resort facilities, only a short stroll. Michael, Billy and George are extremely friendly and go out of their way to make your stay memorable, Billy, cheeky monkey, makes you welcome at the bar and will stay open as long as you want. George is a fantastic cook and if you ask he will prepare you anything you want from english to greek specialities. Barbeque night is a must, excellent value for money. Michael goes the extra mile to make sure yourhappy and comfortable during your stay. We will be back again next year.

Arrived mid afternoon, greeted by the infamous Billy with a very welcome cold beer! I've never checked into a hotel at the bar before so this was quite a novelty and all processed very quickly. Billy showed us round to our room, on the ground floor at the back of the block. Accommodation is typical of anything you would get in Greece, basic kitchen but we hadn't planned to do any kind of cooking, bathroom clean but basic. Towels (1 large, 1 small per person) laid out on the bed ready for us, along with a top sheet for the bed if needed.
We decided to head straight out to have a look around the resort and get some supplies for the fridge.... so made our way back to the bar to ask Billy for directions... down the stairs and turn left by "Mama's" house... I knew at this point we would enjoy our stay.....
Hotel location is fabulous, the short cut by the previously mentioned "Mama's" house is great during the day but ladies, if you have heels on, this is rough ground and dusty so go out via the road which is just a slightly longer way around in the evening... either way you are looking at a 5 minute walk to the main strip and you can then access the beach through one of the numerous beach bars. All offer a full english including sunbeds and parasols for the day. I would say that no-one was checking if we'd eaten in the restaurants but there was only a few weeks left of the season so would think they are more vigilant in peak times.
Plenty of good greek tavernas as well as some good bars offering pub type food if that's what you are looking for. We can highly recommend Maria's and Minos for greek food of superb quality. We did eat at Artemis but were disappointed with the menu offering and standard. We were spending about 30Euros per night for a 2 course dinner and either a couple of Mythos Beers or a large carafe of wine... good value. Breakfast and lunch snacks for around 10 euros per day.
Billy draws most back to the bar late evening and to his credit, we have never spoken to so many people while away before. He remembers everyone's names, what they drink and is soooo entertaining with his wigs, music and various other props. I'm sure he wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea but for us he made our holiday. Michael and George, the other 2 brothers were also extremely welcoming if a lot quieter than Billy and George's BBQ is not to be missed (Thurs nts)
All in all, a week wasn't long enough for us this time and we feel as if we've only just scratched the surface of the resort itself however we will most likely go back for 2 weeks next year.

stayed at filia again as we enjoyed it so much last year, and it did,nt dissapoint.we arrived early evening to a warm welcome from Billy who remembered all our names,I really don,t know how he does it.Because Billy Michael, and George are all hands on and one or more of them is around all the time it gives the place a really homely feel, and if there is anything you need or anything your not happy with they will do their best to help.Stalis seemed a bit busier this year, with more than enough places to eat and drink one place we tried which we had,nt last year was Kostas Taverna at the bottom of the road leading to the strip,it ,s a proper traditional Greek place i have to say looking at it you may think twice about going in,mainly because it,s quite the old fashioned style with plastic table cloths and chunky wooden tables and chairs, but the food was the best we ate all the time we were there, proper traditional greek flavours and lovely service. try it.Panorama,Artemis, and Poseiden were also really nice.we were a bit dissapointed with the Golden Heart(Janis)they serve the food in the traditional way ,i had kleftiko which is normally really tasty everywhere but i,ve had better.Food is reasonable everywhere and you get loads of it,and if you want an english breakfast you can get one at loads of places on the strip for between three and five euro.beer is anything from one euro fifty to three euro,s, and for all the sports events you want watch the slainte irish bar has everything on.Then you can head back to Billy,s bar and party all night if you want to,he,s hilarious, and when he closes the bar he sometimes heads for the night clubs and invites anyone left standing to go with him.If you want a quiet holiday you can ask for a room in the building away from the bar, otherwise if you want a lively time you,ll love it.

Spent a week at the Filia, had a great time. The apartments are handy for the beach and the bars and restaurants, we met some lovely people and made lots of friends. The apartments themselves are basic so don't expect much, however they were clean and we did not have any complaints over the week. The three brothers who run the Filia are great, (Billy a bit loud when drunk haha) and nothing was too much trouble from them, will definitley stay again.

Only been back a day and missing this place already! Billy, George and Michael are all lovely and really friendly, always willing to help. Yes the music does go on till about 4/5am sometimes, but it was something that never bothered us. Billy is hilarious, we have all come back with various quotes from him that make us giggle everytime we say them! He did annoy people after a while but we think he was great and very entertaining. We stayed in a studio overlooking the main bar so unsure of what the bigger rooms were like, but ours had everything you needed and was cleaned every other day. Big thanks to everyone we met there and to all the staff that made us feel so welcome.
We will be back next year Billy, you cheeky monkey!!! :-)

We stayed at the Filia for 2 weeks, we were a large group ranging from small children of 3 to grandparents of 80. I was really looking forward to staying here and had persuaded my whole family to book on at the same hotel.
It was listed as 3 star so we were expecting the rooms to be of a decent standard, we were disapointed with the rooms straight away. We took up 4 rooms between us all and each one was very basic. The shower was just a raised cube on the floor and only trickled out water and there was no shower curtain so water went everywere. The room was never cleaned in the 2 weeks, just the bins emptied about 2-3 times a week and clean bedding and towels about twice a week.
I told myself I could live with this and to not let it bother me but we soon got fed up as it was impossible to get a good nights sleep as loud music poured out every night until 3 and 4am, it really wasn't fair on my 80 year old grandmother and the small children in our group.
We were also disapointed to learn that air conditioning wasn't in the the price we had paid for the hotel and it would cost 110 euros. As this was such a rip off we didn't buy it but then struggled to sleep at night because of the heat but felt we had to keep the windows shut to drown out the loud music. We were all exhausted due to lack of sleep.

The 3 brothers are friendly enough, especially Billy but he did begin to grate on us all after a week or so.
Because it was rated as a 3 star we paid for bed and breakfast and expected it to be a good variety, it wasn't. It was only continental which was a bit disapointing for the children who wanted cereal.
Having said all this the location of the hotel is good and just minutes from the beach, shops and bars.
I wouldn't stay at Filia again and will research the hotels I stay at in the future a bit more than I did with this one.
