just came back from a weeks holiday at dias and all i can say is,CRACKING,,we were made to feel welcome by maria as soon as i got there, after reading other review about the place,i knew that she was a typical greek woman but they all wrong, she couldnt be nicer if she tried, anything was no problem to her, helpful to the fullest and couldnt ask for more .try her home made chips for 2.50 euro,,massive plate, well than more enough for 2,apartment was good ,we were in 202 ,which was basic but thats most of crete,my only gripes about the place was as follows,,1,,,the shower cubical is made for somebody who is 8 stone wet through ,my wife couldnt bent over in it,i struggled getting through the gap when u open the sliding doors and had no chance of bending over to wash the bottom half, not good,,,2nd ,is that when u see it on the google map,u think ur right in centre but your not,to get to main strip is a good 10 min walk, down hill but up hill comming home, not good,,try the traditional greek night ,its 17 euro but worth it,fantastic food and dancers were great,,maria phoned people for the transfer and on day of leaving was there to see us off, cant ask for more, all in all,if you want a good place to stay and a pool thats hardly used and quiet, then go to dias,u wont look back,to maria and staff, thankyou for the holiday experience,it was a blast,,thankyou

Room Tip: ask or pay extra for up stairs as u dont want in 106 at end of pool, also its 46 euro for 7 days air...

This hotel was absolutely fabulous, friendly and clean. The only thing we didn't see in previous reviews was about mosquito's, although we were bitten only on the 2nd day we did get some spray from the pharmacy which was 10 euro's but well worth it as didn't get bitten again in the rest of our fortnight. All in all we had an absolutely fantastic 2 week holiday where we did nothing but relax and re-charge our batteries. Met some lovely people all of who spoke to everyone. Fun times. PS - Greek night food was amazing!!!!

Room Tip: We had some fantastic meals in Stalis, the Italian Amici was amazing, along with the Four Brothers a...

We stayed at Dias with our two daughters, who are 6 and 1, this holiday was perfect.
The room we stayed in was clean and functional, and had the most amazing sea and mountain view.
The hotel is not too far from the main bar / restaurant strip but far enough out for a relaxing time.
The food at the hotel is very nice and Maria's home made chips are the best!!!!
Michael and Maria are a great team and could not do enough for us.
We needed a room on our last day as our flight was late in the evening, Michael and Maria found us the first available room so we could shower before getting collected at no extra cost, any other hotel we have stayed at we have had to pay for this!
Looking to re-book for next year already!!!!
εκπληκτικά!!!!!!!

Well where to begin.
The building and surroundings are nice close to the beach, restaurants and shops which are many on the beach road. The staff are nice and helpful when asked for something. The pool is possibly a little small but was ok,nice and clean. The room was ok size for the three of us but my son's bed could have been a little longer and softer,i am sure it gave me nightmares when i swapped with my son for a couple of nights. The kitchen probably got taken from a bed sit,so not much cooking was done and the cups and glasses were miss match, perhaps no one has checked the room,i have my standards, besides it was marketed as a 4 star so i do not think i was too fussy.Maria while appeared to be gruff was very sweet once you took time to speak to her, probably a pussycat? The Greek evening was nice and i was lucky to be persuaded to dance by two lovely girls, poor me.Local supermarkets which are everywhere have limited stock and are expensive especially the goodies from home tea, coffee and breakfast cereal perhaps bring your own.

Room Tip: Upstairs sea view rooms are nice, although the pool was outside our room.

There were 9 of us including 5 children on this holiday and we all had a fab time. The pool is small and there are not a lot of sunbeds however there was never a problem getting a bed at any time which was a refreshing change! No one seemed to hog beds. Our room was 206 which had a fantastic view and a proper double bed and a single for our daughter, even wallpaper on the back wall,i thought it was great for Greek standards,Maria was lovely and even took my niece to a dentist when she broke a tooth and refused any money even when she ended up driving to Hersonnississ, what a star!! Michael was also lovely and played the Lyra at the Greek night which happens once a week if they have enough interest. There is a donkey next to the Dias which doesnt get fed much so we were buyinghim fruit, veg and lettuce .cutting it up and putting it in his bowl and getting water from the frog shaped tap right of reception for him,he was happy to see us so if you go please feed him,he is 35 years old apparently!Anyway i would ask for an upstars apatment and you will be happy.we had hot water all the time .Amici was my favourite Italian restaurant, its by the church .

Room Tip: Go for an upper floor room

My wife and I have just returned from stalis staying at the Dias , we arrived late evening and was booked into room 202 , that evening we just put cases in room and went out to meet friends When I awoke on the Saturday and sussed the room out I was so disappointed , our original booking was for 3 with a separate room for our 12 year old Daughter who cancelled at the last minute , however the single bed for her was placed in the kitchen area , this is not a separate room not matter how you view it , if you where to put up with this then , for privacy the room that divided the kitchen area from our room would not do this has the Door & Frame were hanging off the wall and cam away from the wall when you tried to close it . The shower cubicle is designed for people under 8 stone , the double bed is 2 singles pushed together , the TV in the room is useless and the balcony area SMALL . Hence my complaint we were then offered another room and was put into the basement room 106 , we selected this has all the other rooms smelt damp !!!! During our 2 weeks in this room we never had hot water once , again the TV was useless , double bed was 2 singles pushed together and so uncomfortable and kitchen facilities basic . The excuse for no hot water was that the sun moves past the hotel after 2pm your water will always be cold ........ so if staying here remember to get ready to go out at dinnertime !!! The one good thing I can say is that the reception area and pool area is very clean but don't expect sky sports prem football , cheap drinks or good Wi-Fi reception because you simply wont get it . Don't expect the famous greek night that happens here either it does not happen . The Air Con is 6 euros per day but only works off the key of which only 1 key is provided so you'll always return to a hot room . During our stay we celebrated 5 years wedding anniversary , Maria promised she would do something special for us on our day , well it was so special that we are still waiting for it ??? I could go on but will just say do not stay here it is no way a 4 star , no way !!! It cost us £52 per night to stay here and to be honest £5.20 would be more fitting . AVOID !!!!

Room Tip: Go to another hotel !!!!

The Dias is a little gem. Great location 10mins walk to the main hustle and bustle of Stalis and it's great beach. Our room 202 above the bar was sufficient for what we wanted. Generous main bedroom and small kitchen area with the extra bed. Furniture was the usual wooden type found in Greece but comfy nonetheless. TV was very limited but that's not a priority for us. Balcony was a bit small especially when the clothes airer was unfolded. Try the bbq Greek night for something different.
Three people work at the Dias - Maria does everything during the day from receptionist to cook (her chips and Greek salad are delicious); Vanna cleans the place from 7.30am until around 4.30pm, only stopping to grab a quick bite to eat and drink then get back to work. Mixalis does the evening shift and bits and bobs of maintenance. All three keep this place going.
Our bathroom was quite spacious though the shower cubicle was impossibly small.
Pool area was great. The wooden loungers were past their best with some that needed replacing. In our first week, which was the first week of school holidays, the pool was perfect. No problem getting a lounger and at times we had the pool to ourselves for much of the day. Then..... In our second week, sadly the Brits arrived. Towels on beds but no shows until nearly lunchtime on some days. Embarrassing!!! One can only hope that the hotel's owners invest in more and better loungers for the busier high season.
Stalis is a busy little place with enough to keep you deciding which place to eat at without being crazy like the neighbouring resorts of Malia and Hersonissoss. We enjoyed the food at every place we tried and the prices were really reasonable. Our favourite was Amici. There is also a beautiful bar called Amuda (I think) right by the Stalis hotel tucked away in a little side street opposite. There a leather shop on the corner - use that as a landmark. The bar is so very well presented with gorgeous decor. In the winter the owners light the big open fire - It must be a lovely setting. Give Amuda a try and you won't be disappointed.
If you like thrills, try Star Beach. Get the bus from the Blue Sea spa hotel for 1.6€ pp. Free entry but 3€ per sunbed and 8€ for unlimited use of the four slides. Great fun. Paintball, go-karts, bungee, paragliding and watersports are all available. Monday is foam party day and from what we saw, it was just a load of harmless fun. All ages got involved! Taxi back to the hotel cost 6€.
We definitely hope to visit the Dias and Stalis next year.

Room Tip: Avoid the basement rooms. No view. Ask for high floor.
