Megim hotel is a lovely little family hotel on the outskirts of Paleochora. Rooms are clean, comfortable and offer all the basics, including a wall-mounted television and mini fridge.

They serve a hot breakfast every day, with omelettes, bacon, sausages, toast, cold meats, cheese, cereals and fresh tomatoes and cucumber. You can also squeeze your own fresh orange juice.

The breakfast room is downstairs and there are tables outside if you want to go al fresco.

Wifi is pretty good and I was able to upload and download files.

The hotel is located directly across Azzurro beach with deck chairs, grass umbrellas and a café selling snacks, drinks and main meals. Guests have free access to the beach.

Paleochora, is situated about 3km away. A taxi ride there costs only 5 Euros (if you don't have a car of course).

The town itself stretches along a beach, with many restaurants and bars. The church in the square and old castle ruins at the top of the hill are worth seeing.

If you like outdoor activities, be sure to visit Paleochora Nature in town. They offer very affordable hiking, cycling and boat excursions.

Room tip: Ask for a room on the first floor so you can see the ocean.

Our room and ensuite at the Megim was quite compact but well laid out, comfortable and clean. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was served buffet style with the usual standard fare in a slightly soulless room downstairs. The hotel is located on a busy road 3 or 4 kms from the centre of Paleochora so best to have your own transport. If you want a quiet room request one at the back of the hotel.

This is a lovely hotel - not too big and it has been tastefully refurbished and beautifully decorated (as can be seen in the various photos on TripAdvisor). The breakfast is basic and everything fresh but not much change from one day to the next - this is only an observation not a complaint. The rooms are comfortable with nice beds, safety deposit box and a small fridge. The bathrooms are a reasonable size with shower (as opposed to a bath), toilet, basin etc & complimentary shampoo/shower gel. The traffic races by on the road so if you like it quieter then don't forget to ask for a room at the back. There is no bar in the hotel itself but the fridge certainly comes in handy. Having read through the reviews it is stated that this hotel is 3 km from Paleochora - I would say that this is to the sign on the outskirts and to the centre it is nearer 4 km - it takes about 40/50 mins to walk depending on your speed and how hot it is. The road is very uneven, no pavements and the traffic zooms along so please take care. If you are walking back from town in the evening when it's dark then do take a torch as there is no lighting and you need to take care due to the potholes. A taxi from he centre to the hotel is 6 euros. Our stay here was the last week in May and first week in June and the beach facilities weren't available until after our departure - when I asked about meals in the evening I was told that there were snacks & souvlaki available from the beach bar when it opens. Despite the mention of a shuttle bus this seemed only to be available for a party of half a dozen twenty somethings, but when we asked about it, it seemed more or less non existent although the manager offered us a lift in his car. The owners of this hotel also have a restaurant in town - see my review of Inochoos, and despite the lack of beach facilities (sunbeds/umbrellas/bar at the time of our stay) the owners were friendly and helpful. If you want to hire a car ask Efteris the owner and he will speak to his contacts at Notos and you get a better deal - he just does the introduction and then hands you over to the office. Olga was particularly helpful. Overall, a lovely stay in Paleochora at the Megim Hotel.

The room is really small, but the balcony is sizable. The owner is thoughtful to install the clothing rack so guests could dry their clothing on the balcony. The hotel is clean and staff is helpful. The rate includes free breakfast, free parking, and umbrellas at the beach. The quality of the breakfast is above average. The disadvantage part is the location, a bit distance from the city, you really need a car to move around. It would be good to provide shuttle service.

On a busy and fast road some 3kms to the West of Paleochora. No stopping bus service and a 5 euro taxi ride. The hotel offered, on its site and booking.com a hotel mini bus to and from town. Never saw that in operation although if the timing suited a lift was available and return if you asked at the owner's restaurant in town. We were greeted with a scowl from the young lady but did get our lift of a more cheerful family member.
Rooms were kept clean, had decent air-con with useful manual controls. Shower area was fine. Hairdryer and bathroom soaps etc. supplied along with nice towels.
Small fridge with ice tray in each room. Wall safe was free. The hotel offered nothing to do in the evenings, no bar or snacks were obviously available in the hotel. There was a beach bar opposite where a torch was useful to get there safely. We did not visit it in the evening to see if it was open. Free sunbeds and umbrellas were available on the long stretch of pebble beach. Very clean sea water. On-site parking under pressure when the hotel was full but there was plenty of space over the road.
Our room had a decent balcony with sea view. Full sun till early afternoon
