Lovely location - on the beach - and friendly and helpfull staff! The room was ok, but the bathroom was too small. Very much good food. They have the most dedicated and the most friendly Animation Team that I've ever known! They do everything possible to feel great both children and adults. Our vacation was perfect because of them. Our daughter did not want to go back home, but to stay with them (she was crying and hoping to lose the airplan). Every morning she was waiting for the Mini Club activities, then the dance in the water, the Mini Disco and Karaoke in the evening and when she was not with them, she was looking for them all the time. In their company, we felt as between old friends. And so it was the Animation Team with everyone. Thank you, guys, for an excellent vacation!

The hotel was in a very bad condition. Walls, beds, bathroom need renovation. We saw two cockroaches in the bathroom. The food in the Swell was marvelous. The only thing that we enjoyed in the hotel. It's not a 4-star hotel but only 2-star hotel.

Dear Mrs Sofia K,

We thank you very much for coming to Knossos Beach and for posting your comment. We are glad that you enjoyed so much the meal in our Swell Restaurant. On the other hand we deeply regret that our hotel’s standard room didn’t match your expectation. Despite we don’t think that your description gives the real picture of our rooms, we still keep it in a high consideration in order to improve and better plan the next renovation works.

Respectfully yours,

Franco Ferrari

Lovely hotel and resort! Friendly and helpful staff. Clean and safe rooms. Good food. Franco, our Guest Relations host, was exceptional and provided us with superlative attention and personalized service. Our stay was at the end of the tourist season. So because the hotel wasn't too busy, Franco offered to be our private tour guide for the day! He took us in his own car where we wanted to go (the Cave of Zeus) and showed us through the mountains and to many quaint little villages around central Crete that we would never have discovered had we been on our own. Franco provided local historical facts and cultural commentary that enriched our tour very much. We would stay at Knossos Beach Bungalows & Suites again and would definitely look for Franco!

We have spent a week at the village this summer and we didn't enjoy it as we expected: we were in a Group of 3 families with child 5 to 9 years old.
The village was probably a well known and mantained structure in the past years; Now instead we have found many disfunctions.
The bungalows are poorely furnished, bathrooms are old and showers not well mantained
The swimming pools are not clean and pool showers didn't work fine
The Beach was not been cleaned at night so it was full of algues and the recreative stuffs (pedalo, canoes, volley ecc) were not disposable for the clients un less from 10 to 12 and 15 to 17
We (children included) hated the food that was very unsutisfactory for quality and kind
The village moreover is settled in a part of crete that is very poor and not nice.

Overall, our experience here was very good! We visited Crete in June 2011.

CONCIERGE: As soon as we arrived, we were greeted with friendly staff. They offered us ice water, helped us check in, and gave us an overview of what to expect during our stay (in terms of meal vouchers, facilities, services, tours, etc.) Since it was late afternoon and the main restaurant was closed, they offered us a delicious gourmet lunch at Swell for a very discounted price. An excellent welcome to Crete!

ROOM: We stayed in a bungalow with a sea view. Looked very basic but a good size and clean. Complimentary wine and fruit basket were much needed for snacking throughout our stay! Balcony view is beautiful but you also get a view of the balconies below as well as radiators and concrete floors next door.

FOOD: Everyday we had comp breakfast and a choice of lunch or dinner in the main restaurant - all buffets and good service. Selection is quite large between American and Greek fare and is quite good. If you do an early tour with the hotel they let you in the restaurant before it opens for a light breakfast.

FACILITIES: Grounds are absolutely beautiful with flowers everywhere and I especially loved the little herb garden. Beach, of course, is nice and relaxing. Bartenders at the pool bar are friendly and sometimes give you free drinks! There are a lot of activities to do - just wish we had the time to enjoy them!

COMPLAINTS: The location, though fairly close to the airport for transport, was not ideal. Descending airplanes for landing flew right above us. Also, we didn't think there was much to do in the town itself so you have to travel. They do offer a variety of tours though we weren't entirely satisfied with them. We did a tour to Chrissi Island (gorgeous) but way too far - shouldn't even be offered if most of the day is spent traveling. We also did a tour around central Crete. Stops were great (Knossos Palace, Diktaio Andro, etc) but our tour guide was not very good - not sure if we got unlucky or if the tour company provides mediocre guides.

We stayed as family of 4 and slept in a suite with sea view.
Overall facilities are good, location is quite poor (hotel is just below the landing path to the airport... Hence airplane noise all day long) but the people were mostly extremely kind.
Quality of service was of a very good 3 star... But not really a 4 star ... Especially the very limited 'all inclusive' and the basic food.

I was in this place for second time and once again I left with very best memories.
Apart from the standard excellent facilities (beach, room, service, staff), which I knew from when I visited the place 2 years again, this time I tried the "Swell" restaurant of the resort. Without doubt, It has been one of our greatest dinning experiences. The food can be easily compared to that of a michelin restaurant in terms of taste and creativity, but at the same time, it keeps the authenticity of the local greek and cretian cuisine (not surprisingly, as i learnt afterwards, the chef is a famous greek chap). We tried couple of local wines and I was surprised to discover their unique flavour. This is a certain recommendation, not only for the guests of the hotel, but for everyone visiting/staying around the area.

I wish my stay was longer.

Room Tip: The pool hosts beach parties so rooms next to the pool maybe noisy during those nights. If you wish...
