This is a moderate-to-nice hotel with almost everything that you should expect from 3-star bed-breakfast-wifi stopover in your leisure or business trip. Beds are clean, of good confort, generally okay. Shower and bathroom have got hot water, soap and plenty of towels. Breakfast is out of continental competition and, although we did not ask for a hot meal (eggs, etc), adding a fresh orange and prosecco will add an additional star to this hotel.
I've booked this hotel at a very last moment to hang up for one night on our way from Geneva with late arrival to skiing paradise in Vanoise. Next time I will have the same kind of situation I will choose this hotel. I have informed the hotel as a reply to my booking confirmation message that we will arrive very late and the reply was that my room will be prepared open for me, very well done!
Room was 72 euro per night including breakfast, I would suggest to go slightly down may be 60-65, but the local hotel pricing situation is surely the proper advisor.

Hotel was good for our needs. My wife and went on a vacation in and around Annecy and we stayed two nights in Le Clos du Lac. We needed the place for a night sleep. And we got our money's worth. If you are looking for luxury, this is not the place. But if you need a clean room to spend the night and have a good night sleep, then this is excellent for the money. Town is great. Lake is beautiful and Annecy is a short drive away.

In France, a committee made up of specialists in the tourism industry decides on whether to grant stars to an establishment, awarding from zero to four stars which sets the guidelines for the cost of your accommodation. This process takes into consideration the quality of services and the facilities that a hotel offers such as: the size of the room, the quality of the food and beverages, and whether it has a 24 hour switchboard and round the clock room service. Elevators also are taken into consideration as well as gourmet restaurants and the offering of fine wines.

My friend owns a 2 star hotel and, when I asked him if he regrets having received 2 stars instead of 3, his answer was: I prefer to be a good 2 star hotel than a lousy 3. Le Clos du Lac follows that philosophy. The rooms are small but impeccably clean, Wi-Fi is free, and the TV has a variety of stations to satisfy all ages and tastes. When I checked in, a charming young lady named Auralie at the reception desk was very accommodating and gave me a quiet room, per my request. The breakfast consisted of a rich buffet that included warm croissants and baguettes, hams and local cheeses, yogurt, cereal, and fresh fruit.
