“Not worth the price paid”
Reviewed September 20, 2013

I had passed this hotel on a couple of occasions and felt it was worth a try.
However, as soon as we walked into the restaurant I felt like we were not wanted there; the waiter/maitre d, had a real snooty air about him, maybe it was because we were not dressed up to the nines, or maybe it was something else. Thankfully another waiter was much friendlier and spoke a little English which helped out during the evening.
We were given small appetisers of something pink and fishy like a very soft mousse. It wasn't very nice.
The starters of kebabs of various meats was ok to a point, set on a bed of salad in a delicious vinaigrette. It was just a pity some of the chunks of meat were not cooked properly!!
The main course was better, the veal excellent, though the haddock and scallop dish I had was set on something that could only be described as warm sauerkraut and smothered in paprika, which was so overpowering that it disguised the taste of the rest of the dish, and as haddock has a powerful flavour anyway that seemed pretty pointless.
The cote de Provence rose was very good though!
We didn't stay for dessert, just ordered deux cafe au lait and l'addition s'il vous plait!
Given the price the the excellent location and smart interior and decor I really expected more, but if I go back to Port-en-Bessin I will not be going back here!

“Great location”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

The views are beautiful but, alas, the service was not. I actually got the proverbial roll of the eyes asking for more hot water for tea. The food was very good.

“Good location, good food - pricey”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

A group of seven of us arrived without reservations at this very nice looking hotel restaurant with good views over the harbour and out to sea. The staff were very welcoming and spoke good English.
Menu options and wine list were very good and all the food was very well prepared and tasty and the service cheerful and efficient but even allowing for the premium location it did seem rather expensive.
If you're not worried about the sea views, then one of the restaurants slightly further back towards the port are probably better value.

“Good food - convenient to hotel guests”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

It is so nice to stay overnight in a hotel with a restaurant. It was too chilly to dine on the patio, but the interior has a nice charm. The staff caters to English speakers. The food was good and it was nice to drink wine and wobble back to your room without harm to anyone. Good value for money and there is something on the menu for everyone.

“Nice location but over priced”
Reviewed June 6, 2013

We had dinner here on a night when many other restaurants were closed so it was a bit Hobson's choice. Service was very good and the food itself was okay, but the prices were considerably more than you would expect to pay for what you were served. The following night we ate at the Fleur Du Sel and for around the same cost we had a far superior meal in a much nicer environment.
