I had passed this hotel on a couple of occasions and felt it was worth a try.
However, as soon as we walked into the restaurant I felt like we were not wanted there; the waiter/maitre d, had a real snooty air about him, maybe it was because we were not dressed up to the nines, or maybe it was something else. Thankfully another waiter was much friendlier and spoke a little English which helped out during the evening.
We were given small appetisers of something pink and fishy like a very soft mousse. It wasn't very nice.
The starters of kebabs of various meats was ok to a point, set on a bed of salad in a delicious vinaigrette. It was just a pity some of the chunks of meat were not cooked properly!!
The main course was better, the veal excellent, though the haddock and scallop dish I had was set on something that could only be described as warm sauerkraut and smothered in paprika, which was so overpowering that it disguised the taste of the rest of the dish, and as haddock has a powerful flavour anyway that seemed pretty pointless.
The cote de Provence rose was very good though!
We didn't stay for dessert, just ordered deux cafe au lait and l'addition s'il vous plait!
Given the price the the excellent location and smart interior and decor I really expected more, but if I go back to Port-en-Bessin I will not be going back here!
