When you arrive in Ouistreham and intend to dine before taking the overnight ferry back to Portsmouth you can choose from a variety of restaurants most of which are offering set priced meals. Look no further than this establishment which is located on the corner of Avenue Michel Cabieu and can be seen from the last car park before the ferry port.
We chose the 25 euro menu and were not disappointed. I chose the fruits de mers plate for starter followed by a combination of steak and duck beautifully cooked, cheese and a plate of profiteroles as dessert. My wife enjoyed foie gras, skate wing (which was so tender that it fell from the bone), cheese and a chocolate mousse.
Every course was beautifully presented and the service was crisp yet unobtrusive.
The restaurant has a decent wine list and also provides 50cl pitchers of white, red and rose.
We will definitely be back the next time we visit France.

Second night of a three night stay in Ouistrahem on a Wednesday night at the end of July. Had a good wander round before selecting Le Roulis. We both fancied soupe de poisson so happy to choose the Menu Promenade with Boeuf Bourgignon for main course. The restaurant was quite busy which had an effect on the service. We weren't in a rush to head anywhere else so it wasn't a great concern but you do start to get a bit peckish and end up eating more bread than maybe you should.
Drinks as expected in Normandy - overpriced. Food however was excellent value for money (only €13.90) and there's not a lot you can get wrong with soupe de poisson or beouf borgignon although I'm sure some chefs can go overboard with seasoning.
Recommended but with the proviso that the service is rather tardy.

We've eaten here a number of times and the food is excellent and waiter/owner is very attentive - even took time out of a busy lunch time to show me how he folds the napkins!

As a regular visitor to Caen on the Ferries, we had eaten at the Roulis twice. The first time was good with the lady owner a little bit Rude, but good food.
Our last visit was terrible, to the point that other guest were walking out after one hour waiting for they main course, we had to move too, as we did wait a long time for ours, no apologies, just bad mouthing in French in the Background, and the girl waitress was so rude, almost as much as the Owner. The starter was “ok”, after all of that; they had the edacity to try to make us pay for the first course at 12 Euros on a 20 Euros menu. We just paid for the wine.
They are banking on the English community to pay for they bills, with a very poor customer service, with a like of respect.
Give your money to someone else.

We've eaten here before and had a lovely meal, but on that occasion were the only people in the restaurant. This time the restaurant was half full and the staff couldn't handle the number of customers. Other customers were storming out without paying, leading to a terrible atmosphere, which was reduced further by the sound of loud shouting from the kitchen where the waitresses were shouting at the chef!

The food was poorly prepared (with my main course coming with a burnt and congealed Roquefort sauce that resembled cat vomit). My friends food was overlooked and the sauce here also tasted burnt. Aside from one lovely (older) waitress, the staff were incredibly rude (with the female owner answering 'on s'en fou (who cares)' to our complaints (thinking we didn't understand French). The male owner was a wet drip who wouldn't meet our eyes during a 50 minute wait for our main course.

As a frequent traveller through Caen, I will never eat here again. The rude service, nasty food, and bad atmosphere mean that almost anywhere would be preferable.
