Although reasonably priced our experience was not good. Firstly, the waiter (1) was rushed off his feet, having to travel vast distances from the tables to the kitchen and the bar (upstairs). Of course, the diners were placed at tables in or near the street window to tempt people inside, but that only increased the waiter's travelling time. We were lucky being one of the first to arrive so the starters arrived quickly, but then like a gramophone running out of puff, the service slowed significantly. Our starters were good, but the main was of a tasteless steak and a very dry galette. The crepe for desert was equally dry and the ice cream was from a bucket. Not recommended.

After a bad experience in a similar street the evening before (in another town) we were sceptical. However, the food was very good and the service faultless

Located at 77 avenue de la Mer, Ouisterham about half a kilometre west of the Brittany Ferries terminal this was a great place to sign off a short trip to Normandy. http://www.labrasseriedelamer.fr/
I enjoyed Moules Mariniere, with a bottle of Evian, a demi pichet of house white wine and a sorbet "Trou Normande" for €30. I got a generous portion of small sweet mussels just cooked to the point of opening with a side serving of perfect frites. Le Trou Normande was an apple sorbet laced with calvados for a refreshing finish to a simple but well prepared meal. I saw other diners (about 50:50 local / tourists) enjoy dishes ranging from pasta and pizza to meats and salads, but seafood is the main attraction.
Avenue de la Mer is pedestrianised and there is plenty of competition but this is the best I found here, I hope you enjoy it too.....

There are lots of 'fast food' and cafes in Ouistreham, most of them serving garbage - not typical French food!

This is a nice seafood cafe, under new management. Brilliant fresh mussles - try the one in curry - its nice - weirdly! Lots of other fresh seafood available at great prices considering the quality. Good wine too. Great service.

Worth a trip from the beach or if you are waiting for the ferry.
