Les Agnates is a great place to stay if you want to visit the premier wine domaines in Burgundy. It's situated in a quiet little village only 10 minutes drive from Nuits Saint Georges. Beaune and Dijon are only 30 minutes away.
Monsieur Detain was a very affable host and laid out a wonderful breakfast each morning. Fresh eggs and fruit from the garden were a particular highlight. When the weather was nice, breakfast was served under a gazebo in the garden.
Les Agnates consisted of two separate bedrooms with ensuite facilities and a shared kitchen. Since my husband and I were treating his parents to a weekend away, we were able to see both rooms. Both rooms were large, more like an American B&B than others I've visited in Europe, and well appointed. The beds were really comfortable and probably afforded me the best night's sleep of my entire trip to France. There were little differences between the two and depending on your needs, you should request a specific room. The The Thym (Thyme) room was very bright and had a larger armoire. The Lilas (Lilac) room had a larger/taller shower.
Les Agnates is ideal for elderly people and those with mobility issues. There are no stairs to climb and both rooms had walk-in showers.
