My family and I stayed at Historias Lodge for two nights and we enjoyed our time there very much. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was filling and I appreciated the internet access in the lobby. The location was convenient to both local restaurants and the Cloud Forest. The owner, Luis, and his sister, Alba, were gracious and informed hosts. It was the perfect place to stay!

Historias Lodge is a nifty little hotel tucked away from the main street providing a peaceful environment where one can still hear birds in the mornings. Our room was quite spacious. There was a small table cut out from a tree stump and was not symmetrically cut out which I found quite beautiful. The stools were also made from wood. The view from our window was the neighbor's home which made it feel we were living within the local community, unlike the other hotels we stayed in that had views of gardens and greenery. I found that cool, so it made my experience feel like we were at home and not on vacation.

The owner of the hotel is very friendly, informative and helpful. He is my sister's host mother's brother so it was a pleasure to stay at his hotel. What a warm welcoming family!

Mucho Gusto y Pura Vida!!!

This hotel was booked for us by our tour company as part of our 10-day vacation tour package. The rooms were clean, spacious, and in good repair.

The lodge has a rustic theme, with natural wood furnishings and decor. It is nestled into a hillside with lots of foliage and trees surrounding it. The location is conveniently located within walking distance of several full-service restaurants, an ice cream/pizza parlor, a mini-mart, and -- a little bit farther (but still walking distance) -- a grocery store, the town center, shops and banks.

There is plenty of Internet access (four computers), a bookshelf of reading material (mostly paperback novels) available to borrow during your stay, and a brochure rack of local attractions. There is a free breakfast consisting of pre-plated fruit, do-it-yourself toast, rice & beans, scrambled eggs, and juice. The staff will also make fried eggs on request. I wish they had the rice & beans and scrambled eggs on a food warmer for safety though. They will happily re-heat them if necessary, however.

The best part about the lodge is the service staff, particularly Alba, the front desk manager. She was very friendly and helpful. She recommended local activities, confirmed our transportation, and booked dinner reservations for us. We came to know her fairly well through our interactions with her, and on our departure day, she gave us each a big hug like we were family.

The only possible downside I can mention is the lack of a swimming pool. Our stay in Monteverde was only two nights, however, and we did not really miss having a pool. There is plenty to do in the area, and my kids had already swam in the pool at the previous two hotels during our tour -- so it was not a big deal.

Overall, if you are looking for clean, comfortable accommodations in a convenient location, with a friendly, helpful staff that treats you like family -- this is it. We loved it at the Historias Lodge, and we would definitely stay there again when travelling in the area.

The hotel was quiet but still well located to places to eat. Our room was upstairs and had a lovely view of the sunset. The room itself had several windows and was quite large and comfortable. The bed was good. and the bathroom was adequate. The breakfast was simple but filling and the owners were very pleasant and helpful.

Had a great time while there. Staff will help you book tours. Can walk to town in 15-20 min. Rooms are very comfortable and clean, and had the absolute best gallo pinto for breakfast!

I stayed here with my cousin in February 2011. Alba at the front desk was exceptionally friendly and helpful as soon as we walked in the door.
She set up a couple of tours we were interested in and arranged for our transportation. We had a really pleasant stay and the breakfast and service was awesome!

We were pleasently surprised when we pulled off the road, down an imbankment and into the parking lot of the Historias Lodge! The staff are so friendly and outgoing, made us feel like we were returning customers and family! the rooms are extremely spacious, well=equiped and clean! Free breakfast, internet, private patios and so much more! The laundry service cleaned clothing we thought were doomed!
An amazing and wonderful place to stay, I would come back in a heartbeat!
