Stayed in upper cabin with glassed- in sunroom with rainforest views and visiting monkeys & coatis. It was spacious, clean & well equipped. The main room had a comfy queen bed, table & chairs; the sunroom had a mini kitchen and couch; and there was lots of hot water in the bathroom shower. The cabin & a new family size cabin were built with care by Rolf, the friendly owner, who not only arranged an excellent guide for us...but also went above & beyond in service. We arrived after dinner with a flat tire, intending to get it repaired when a garage opened in the morning. To our surprise, early rising Rolf had jacked up our car, removed the tire, taken it to the garage for repair, and put it back on our car....then called out a cheerful "Hello" at 8 a.m. to let us know that our car was OK to go! We really appreciated this act of kindness.

Was there with my family on last christmas, and all loved it. Although was a little bit difficult to find it (because we arrived at night), I think it worth the time. Rainbow Valley lodge has a two story house with two cozy and charming bedrooms. I stayed in the upper unit while my family stayed in the lower. The small kitchen in the upper unit was very convenience to prepare a hot drink for the colder and windier nights over there. It´s like to have your own mountain house with an amaizing view of the valley, and just for a little price.

Deffinitely I´ll come back here to have a quiet and peaceful weekend over the mountains.

We can't say enough about Rainbow Valley Lodge. It is everything advertised and yet a lot more. Rolf is a wonderful host and couldn't do enough for us. The rooms are great, the beds comfortable and the showers hot! Great place to relax in peace and quiet yet not far from anything in town. We had the upper room with kitchen which is great for entertaining (we were travelling with another couple) and fabulous view with unbelievable rainbows. Rolf was very helpful in assisting us with our travel arrangements and tours, which were all first class, without the price tag.

We'd visit again in a heartbeat!

My boyfriend and I visited Costa Rica a year ago, and we stumbled upon this lodge through tripadvisor. Rolf, the owner, exceeded our expectations and was sure that our trip was memorable. We had the upper room with the beautiful kitchen, which was like a big patio with all windows looking out to the beautiful valley. We had rainbows daily. There was even a Caoti that came and visited us daily (named Diablo) The only problem we ran into, was that most of the taxi drivers weren't sure where the hotel was. I knew some Spanish and that helped get us back, but if I didn't know any Spanish I think we would have been SOL some nights.
The hotel is a must see, and if I could I would go back in a heartbeat. The room was fabulous, great location (not right in the center of the town), and the views were excellent. Great prices and the service was outstanding.
Be sure to go on the night tour to monteverde forest. It's unbelievable. My boyfriend and I saw so much wildlife, it was amazing.
Such a great place. I would recommend it to anyone. If you are disabled, the room we stayed in was at the bottom of a driveway /hill, so I would recommend looking somewhere else. i know Rolf was thinking of building another room though, so check it out first :)
Really enjoyed it, and I hope you read this Rolf, because I wanted to thank you again for everything. It was great.

We were a group of 4 adults and stayed in the family cabin for 3 nights. Really well equipped, cosy, homely feel and plenty of room. Was also great to have 2 bathrooms. We had a fantastic stay, was the perfect base for the cloudforests and canopy tour. Slightly out of town - only 10 minutes walk away, really peaceful, beautiful rainbow views and lots of wildlife. The thing we will never forget about this place is how kind and helpful Rolf, the owner is. Can't recommend it enough!

We stayed with another couple in a two bedroom 'cabina' with two baths, kitchen, shaded porch and beautiful views. The price was very good, the accommodations were excellent and the owner was as helpful and friendly (from Minnissota) as you could want. Nothing fancy, but well equiped, convenient to Monteverde Cloud Forest and local sites of interest. A great find. And there really are rainbows all over this valley.

We stayed at this place for 3 nights. The first 2 nights we stayed in the upper room and the last night we stayed in the lower room. Both rooms are great but, if you can, book the upper one. It's a little bit more expensive but the great views are well worth it.
We saw more wild animals during our stay at the Rainbow Valley Lodge than in the Santa Elena Reserve! We saw several coatis, 1 monkey and 1 agouti. We could actually get quite close to the coatis...:)

The location is really good: very quiet, in the middle of nature, but still really close to downtown.

The onwer, Rolf, is a great guy. He was very helpful and tried to make our stay as pleasant as possible.

If you are coming to Monteverde area, this is definitely THE place to stay!
