Loved the Rustic Lodge! Beautiful, peaceful and relaxing with outstanding service! The owner, Jose Badilla Villalobos, and his family, provide exceptional and personal care to their visitors. Looking forward to returning to the Rustic Lodge in Monteverde, Costa Rica!

Good clean well maintained rooms on the edge of town. Not sure why but we had a room on the main level that three queen sized beds in it. Not much of a view but the owners go all out to make arrangements for you including getting your laundry done. One day we decided to go horseback riding and they arranged for the horses to come right to the hotel to pick us up and drop us off at the end of the ride. Good breakfast included but that is when you will discover the "rustic" part is the chairs in the dining room, the seat backs are so vertical that you will not want to linger seated after breakfast. There are several good sodas and a great Italian restaurant , Bon Appetite within walking distance. We walked into town several times, it's not that far although it is all uphill on the way home. There is a souvenir shop in town that has a wood gallery upstairs that has some fantastic stuff.

Room Tip: If your a birder ask them to make arrangements for a guided trip with Christian. Also recommend the canopy and zip line at Selva Verde

We stayed at the Rustic Lodge for 2 nights in Monteverde and it was fantastic. Free, great breakfast and coffee, and most importantly, the hotel made reservations for us at local restaurants and for guided tours as well. Super helpful and fun!

The staff, breakfast and room size makes the difference. Everyone in the staff is kind, helpful, and always give you the best advice. The breakfast is so unique, homemade, diffrent, maybe the best (not in variety) from costa rica. The rooms are big, but might be a little bit noisy, I mean, you might hear something from the other rooms... But not a big deal.
I recommend this hotel!

It was very windy in Monteverde, but the hotel was great. Rooms are really big, you can dance there, big bathroom with hot water, very clean, no TV in the room. Breakfast was great, best from all hotels, staff helpful and friendly.
