The hotel is very clean and very nice. The staff is helpful. When we arrived we saw a chocolate and coffee tour that started in 30 minutes. The gentleman at the front desk called them and got us into the tour very quickly and they picked us up within 10 minutes. As mentioned by someone else, the hotel is located a little further from downtown. It was about a 10 min walk to downtown (downhill), but it is quiet. I would definitely recommend this hotel for any of my friends or family.

The Location is perfect if you are arriving by Local Bus frn San Jose as it is a 5 min walk from the station and located downtown La Fortuna, but those wanting to stay near the hot springs and near the Volcano should keep in mind that this hotel is around 10 km away from Arenal Volcano and park, which is a $10-15 taxi one way (unless you go with the pirate taxis they are around 7 bucks per way). Other than that, the breakfast was lovely and our balcony had a side view of the Volcano (make sure you request it). There are several restaurants nearby but I found La Fortuna to be pricier than Monteverde or Manuel Antonio.

We chose an establishment that was less money, and regretted it. This hotel is priced, and setup, like a standard hotel - think Hampton or Holiday Inn and you get the idea. It's a bit far from the downtown area, and the neighborhood is poorly lit and questionable.

We stayed there for two nights at the end of April at the beginning of the rainy season. We'd found a great price for same day booking and we got a bigger room than what we'd booked for the first night. The man at the counter got us some coffee (forgot his name!) - courtesy of the hotel. Next day we we'd happily surprised by the breakfast: simple buffet style but great pancakes and good coffee - along with fresh fruit, eggs, pinto gallo, toast etc. loved it! Definitely liked the fact it was a few hundred meters outside the town center - no noise! That said the walls are a bit thin and we could hear someone snoring next door the first night. But we'd still go back there!

People at the front desk are very helpful. 5 minutes walk from the city center. Clean basic room, bed could be better. Included breakfast is basic but still good. Very quiet place. Wi-Fi available. I recommend this hotel for budget travelers.
