“Lots of orchids”

I grow orchids at home in Virgina and appreciated the variety these folks have on display. Not a huge exhibit -- take your kids to the Blue Morpho afterwards for "helado" -- icecream -- to reward them for being good listeners.

“Worth an hour or Two”

Fasinating little place to see all types of Orchids. We had a young lady guide us through and she was very good. Many very tiny Orchids and you often need magnifying glasss to see them. Totally different than orchids in Hawaii .

Not a flower lover my self but it was very intersting and wife loved it

“not for everyone”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

If you are a botanist and want to see many unusual species of orchids this would be your place. However, if you are just looking for lots of pretty flowers, this is disappointing. Most of the orchids there were so small that you would pass right by without even noticing them. This was a guided tour and the guide did provide magnifying glasses and pointed out where the tiny orchids were. However, even under magnification the orchids were not very impressive. The only orchid we recognized was one phalaenopsis but the guide dismissed this flower as a “hybrid” not a pure species.

“Will never look at orchids the same again”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

Spent about an hour or so going through this garden and found it fascinating. The young woman who guided us knew lots of interesting facts about orchids and they have an impressive number and variety of types. Some required magnifying glass (provided) to see. Enjoyed it more than we expected,

“Captive Orchids in Monteverde”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

A friend and I were in Monteverde for only four days in early March 2013 and had to choose carefully to make the most of our stay. We were both very pleased when we stumbled upon the Orchid Garden and the variety of orchids on display there. The garden is small, but well planned so it does not seem so. Our arrival was timely since we had the lovely English speaking naturalist guide to ourselves and she never tired of our questions. We had asked if we could tour the garden on our own, but she smiled as she handed us our magnifying glasses and explained that we would probably need her help if we were to find all of them. And with her we did. The owner who planned this garden was on site and welcomed my attempts at Spanish, but left the English guiding to his assistant who is a true asset.
There is a cafe affiliated with the Orchid Garden and my friend enjoyed the fare and the atmosphere while I sought extra time in the garden to capture some of its beauty on camera.
