“Went there twice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 28, 2014

We stayed at Poco a Poco thus this restaurant's second location in the new shopping center across the street was very convenient. Restaurant is on the second floor thus the views of the sunset are beautiful. Food cost was very reasonable and portions were large. Place was clean and service was great.

“Very solid traditional food...and cheap”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 26, 2014

We ate at the second location -- upstairs in the largely-empty mall. Great food here and terrible atmosphere at night. We had great ceviche, maybe the best on the trip. Very solid casada tipicas -- I had beef (somewhat chewy but flavorful) and my wife had great fish. I don't know if this is usual, but they substituted red beans for the more traditional black. Fried plantain was, unfortunately, not ripe, so that was a disappointment. Beer was cold and service was friendly, quick, energetic. I would highly recommend if you are looking for a traditional, typical Costa Rican meal.

But... we went after dark and it was too cold to sit on the balcony. Inside was lit like a strip mall. Harsh white lights overhead made it feel much less comfortable and much more like a bad fast food joint. We adjusted, but would it be too much to ease up on the blinding lights? Place would be much more welcoming.

“Authentic local food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2014

We had dinner at Sabor Tico's two locations two nights. The 'gallo de arracache' is great, it is a fresh corn tortilla with a serving of arracache (close to a potato), it was great!

“Inexpensive local food.”

We enjoyed the informal atmosphere and local food. This restaurant was recommended to us when we asked around about where the locals go to eat.

“Great food, great prices!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 23, 2014

We felt like this was such a great introduction to typical Costa Rican food (casados, gallo pinto, plantains, etc.) The food was freshly prepared and very delicious. The restaurant and service were great, too!
