Reviewed February 24, 2014 via mobile

Andres who runs the bed and breakfast was extremely helpful. Him and his staff were always very friendly which made for a really good atmosphere. The rooms were good and the facilities clean. Would recommend it!

Very good value for money. Incredibly helpful owners, not just when booking activities but also when assisting in changing our tyre in the middle of a storm! If you make it to monteverde in a car and it doesn't arrive with a problem you have done very well indeed!

Hotel owner Andres and manager Jose are the best. My partner and I were making the bumpy drive from Arenal to Mounteverde when our rental car gave out. We called Camino Verde and they took care of everything from telling us exactly what to say in Spanish to a near by homeowner, arranging a safe place for us to park our car, sending a cab to come get us and drawing a map for our rental car mechanic to use in finding the car. Once we arrived Andres quickly drew together a possibly itinerary of tours that would allow us to make the most of our stay. Booking our tours with Andres made our trip so easy. Generally the tours will pick you up at the hotel but Andres said he could even arrange for one tour to drop you off at your next tour. I got the feeling Andres could make almost anything possible.

We had such a good time we extended our stay an extra day. In total we stayed 3 nights which I now believe is the minimum amount of time to spend in Monteverde. There are so many great parks and wilderness areas to experience and it is a bit difficult to get to so once you make it there it's good to plan to have enough time to enjoy the area.

As for the hotel itself, it's simple but very clean and comfortable. The rooms on the upper level have a beautiful view with the ocean in the distance. Even though the evenings are cool in Monteverde the rooms seem to stay warm and there were plenty of blankets on the bed. Breakfast is included and guests get to choose what they like. Choices include eggs, beans and rice, pancakes, and fresh fruit. Like everywhere else in Costa Rica the coffee is dependably good.

This was by far one of my favourite accommodation experiences! I was sad to stay only 3 nights! Jose is an exceptional manager; upgraded our room for free, helped us planning tours (gave great advice) and was just a friendly face to chat with everyday. Even helped us with our Spanish! The breakfast every morning is exceptional, always free coffee/tea and you can use the kitchen as well ! Bonus for backpackers! The supermarket is 5 minutes away and it's far enough away that it's nice and quiet at night. We very much enjoyed our stay. I highly recommend this place if you ever find yourself in Monteverde!

Firstly, I'm not sure why this is called a bed a breakfast. There is a bed, and they do make breakfast, however I think that's where it ends. The owner does not live or host there, nor make breakfast. The woman cooking breakfast is very sweet, and the breakfast is ok. The room was cozy and small, but clean. The bathroom was awful. The toilet was leaking with big puddles forming on the floor. The hot water was nonexistent. The higher the pressure, the colder the water. As soon as you raise the water pressure above a trickle, freezing water pours out. The beds were very uncomfortable with threadbare linen. There was this extremely thin stained sheet between the mattress and myself.

Thanks to the manager José, my travel buddy and I had an amazing time at Camino Verde. José upgraded us without charge, set us up with some awesome tours, and not to mention, was extremely charming, charismatic and friendly. This bed and breakfast had free, unlimited coffee and tea ALL DAY, six different complementarity breakfast options to chose from (eggs, toast, fresh fruit, rice and beans, pancakes etc). Above all of this, the place had a great, fully equipped kitchen that was available for us to use, wine and beer off sales, was only a 5 min walk to the super store, rooms are very cozy and comfortable, not to mention quite, annndd hot water showers!!
All on all, an amazing place to stay.

Jose was an unbelievable host for my husband and I at Camino Verde. He was attentive, but not pushy, helped us plan all our activities while in Costa Rica, and even saved us $100 by telling us the rafting trip we wanted to do would provide transportation between cities. Additionally, the design of Camino Verde makes it easy to meet other guests and share stories over a cup of coffee, if you would like. It was just a fun, laid back kind of place, perfect for vacationing. The shared kitchen space is also helpful for those who feel like cooking. I would definitely stay here again and feel incredibly grateful to the staff and Jose.
