My friend and I stayed at Camino Verde for 3 nights. We enjoyed joking with Jose who we found to be relaxed, professional and helpful with our trip planning. The room we had was clean and simple and we enjoyed a filling breakfast every morning. Upon Jose's recommendation we took a guided tour through Curi-Cancha and this was by far the highlight of our trip. Thanks Jose!!

We stayed in Camino Verde for a few days in April 2013. We really enjoyed our stay.

Jose, the manager, really made our stay enjoyable. He was helpful and smiling, and always ready to share his advice about the activities and places to go around Monteverde.

The rooms are simple but clean. The comfort is more than enough if you travel as a backpacker like we did. The location is nice, not far from downtown.

Overall, we felt true Pura Vida spirit in Santa Elena.

For the price, I was unimpressed with the cleanliness... My room always had an odor which I couldn't identify the source. There was someone else's hair on my linen which is always kinda gross. The front desk "Jose" was really helpful setting up tours.. I'm sure he had a monetary incentive but nonetheless it was helpful. Overall, I wouldn't stay again because of the smell in the rooms and the general feeling of uncleaniless in the room.

We booked into this interesting and amiable spot at the last minute during our visit to Costa Rica and couldn't have found a more accommodating host. Andre greeted every visitor personally with his high energy yet pleasant approach. My husband and teenage daughter and I stayed in a modest, but completely satisfactory room which could easily sleep 5. Everything was clean and well managed and the breakfast included was excellent! Andre was extremely helpful with his knowledge of the area and his recommendations, which we found to be quite objective. After all, not every visitor is looking for the same experience, and he was so informed. Internet was readily available, especially if you have your own device, and the small outdoor table was a great meet and greet spot for guests at this eclectic spot. The communal kitchen was available for cooking, and was well equipped. Tea and coffee was excellent, complimentary and readily available. We stayed for two nights and were able to tour Monteverde park and enjoy an excellent coffee/cacao tour. If you are looking for a reasonably priced, safe and friendly location, Camino Verde is your spot! We really appreciated Andre and the fact that this property and business is owned by his family. We believe that Tico owned and operated = more benefit directly to the community.

Room Tip: Each room is very different. We stayed in a room in which the door opened right onto the little sitt...

This place is all you need. the room is clean, and the breakfast is great.
The best thing is the helpful staff! Jose was amazing, helped with every question and arrange all of the best tours! :)
The only disadvantage in the room was the hot water - only for a few several min, and only warm...
Overall Good experience.

We reserved a double room in this higgeldy piggeldy hostel. The two brothers that run the hostel are very friendly and super helpful, yes they will sell you everything but they sell good tours and shuttles and are always available to answer any questions and made life very easy for us. Breakfast was great and put on early for us when we visited the rainforest early. There is also a good little kitchen to use, we cooked for ourselves. There is always coffee on tap and free computer use. A very sociable and friendly place.

Monteverde is very windy so be prepared for not the best night's sleep. Get up early in the morning for best experience of the forest. We had only one day in Monteverde and went a bit crazy doing everything! We spent three hours at MV rainforest national park which was brilliant - take your time to see more. We got a shuttle to the park from the hostel but you could take the public bus easily.
In the afternoon we went ziplining at Selvatura which was absolutely fantastic - definitely worth it. We also did the walking tour around the bridges but that was a bit of a let down after the forest inthe morning and the zip lining. Would recommend if you had two days - one day self guided rainforest, one day zip lining and canopy.

Room Tip: Room 18 is noisy from the wind but has a lovely indoor balcony area near it.
