We chose this hotel for its beach front location, away from the madness of Manuel Antonio and quepos. This private beachfront destination was 20 minutes to the hiking of the national park, while being close to other destinations and amenities. Edward and his colleagues made the stay enjoyable, and the owners accommodated last minute requests to help us out. We had a beautiful pool side room #11 and enjoyed the view of the ocean from our porch swings. Food was delicious, beer was cold, beach seemed to go on forever, absolute beauty. Will recommend to all. Have travelled the world and enjoyed our week of relaxation at clandestino.

we cant say enough good things about this beautiful resort. we stayed there for one week of our honeymoon and it was absolutely perfect. the owner is so friendly and helpful and the rest of the staff go above and beyond to make sure your stay is fun and relaxing. she recommended a few day trips after speaking with us for a bit getting to know us and we loved them, we had so much fun.

the pool is very nice with a hot tub, waterfall area and shallow area for the ultimate relaxation in the sun. best part is that it is steps from your room and then the ocean is just another few steps away. its all so close and since there are only a few rooms its not crowded at all, it feels like your own private resort in paradise. we kept saying how much better this was than a big resort with lots of people and long walks to get everywhere. the rooms are cleaned really well each day and were decorated very nicely.

we are dog people and loved the dogs; its like having your own security, they walk with you on the beach and check in every once and while to make sure everything is ok and are very well trained and well mannered. it made us feel at home since we were missing our two dogs and was a very nice touch.

the food at the restaurant is very good and flavorful and any special request we had they did it perfectly each and every time with no mistakes. we were there on a day when they came by to cut down the coconuts and without asking one of the staff members came over to us and gave us each one with a straw in it, it made for the perfect poolside drink! there are many small things they did to make our stay very memorable, they do an excellent job and we are already talking about going back. it was a very special experience and i would recommend it to anyone.

A charming place, quiet, beautiful, very intimate. The best place to go with your partner to relax and disconnect. Pool and beach, the rooms are a luxury. No doubt if we go back to Costa Rica, we will go to this fabulous little hotel. You can take advantage of the low season to visit it because they make amazing discounts!

This property is by far the nicest place we stayed in 10 days traveling Costa Rica. Very clean, every amenity you would expect from a 5 star hotel. The staff attends to your every need, the food is excellent , the pool is set out to give you a great view of the beach and the crashing waves. BUT if you want to stay somewhere for the beach, stay here. It has just 50 steps way from your casita, the most spectacular beach in Costa Rica. Miles of clean, grey sand all to yourself..
It is off the beaten path but if you want Pura Vida, this is the place..

Hello

We are so happy to be one of the best hotel where you stayed in your visit to Costa Rica!

Thank you so much for your amazing review! We like to give a good service and we love to prepare good food in our beachfront restaurant.

The location of the Clandestino Beach Resort is really like you say... you walk 50 meters and you are in one of the most beautiful and wildest beach of costa rica! Palo Seco is simply amazing. And we are really close to Quepos ( Manuel Antonio) or Jaco, about 30 min.

We hope to see you back very soon!

Paradise, absolute paradise! You cannot imagine how beautiful it is. It's perfect for a wedding or honeymoon. We were welcomed by the most wonderful French woman who owns the resort. I am so embarrassed that I forgot her name. She made us feel as if we were friends. They will help you with anything you need. The hotel is gorgeous. It feels like your own private luxury resort in paradise. The rooms are very nice and seem like home. We loved the swinging chairs on the front patio. You can pull curtains and have complete privacy. We sat there for hours looking out at paradise. The view looks like a postcard. The pool is fresh water. There are a few hammocks scattered around. The beach is indescribable. We were the only people there for as far as you could see. Beautiful waves crashing and all you can see is ocean. Then you turn around and see the most intimate luxury resort you can imagine.

The food is delicious, the drinks are tasty and everything is fresh.

I have to mention the bartender Nathan. He is amazing and really contributed to one of the best times we will ever have in our lives. We hiked a very remote private mountain to a secluded waterfall with a cave behind it. It's near Dominical. The Diamante waterfall is a must if you can handle hiking.

We can't stop talking about this resort and will return very soon. Quepos and Manuel Antonio are very close. It's the perfect place to stay.

Room Tip: We loved the one closest to restaurant with pool and ocean view

I'm simply amazed after reading some of the reviews here! My wife and I spent one of our best weekends here and she is (tica). From the moment we arrived the service was excellent. We arrived near nightfall and immediately found the office beside the restaurant and pool area. It was raining and we were met by Natalya (from Spain I think) who immediately made us welcome. She was absolutely beautiful with us even after I had ignorantly went to the desk without my passport and wallet.(locked away in trunk). She still checked us in while assuring us no problema, just bring as we take our luggage in. As we were leaving for our room she noticed I didn't have an umbrella which she immediately gave me one of the hotels. I saw absolutely NO insects, our room was beautiful, well equipped, beds are very good, didn't care what TV stations played (we didn't drive down for TV). Pool towels were in the room and each morning as we left the room, two young ladies came in and cleaned right away. Contrary to other reports we lost nothing (they didn't even eat our chocolates) and we know everyone loves Cho co la te! The breakfast was very good (sorry for this little phrase) its FREE so quit bit$$ing! Yes, the drive on the dirt road is slow and "TYPICAL" of roads leading to most secluded beaches. We saw the "French Lady" but had no contact with her. Natalya took care of every need and for our entire stay. I wasn't going to mention but after reading some of the crappy reviews....I will. It was my birthday and as we checked in she ask the usual questions and my wife Vicky mentioned she had brought me down for that occasion. After check in we started for a short night walk on the beach,Natalya saw us and immediately asked if we needed flashlights, umbrellas or anything and where we would be (for our security I think) which goes against what others have said about the security there ( if you look up anywhere at the pool area) you will see the sec cameras looking back at you! We took a short walk on the beach, then we stopped at the covered hammocks. In a couple minutes we heard someone calling out...Victoria......Victoria....To my complete surprise, there was Natalya with a small birthday cake with candles. She lit the candles and sang Félix Cumpleaños to me. YOU SIMPLY CANNOT ASK FOR MORE FROM A STRANGER. The restaurant staff were great, even lending us large coffee mugs and wine glasses to drink our "OWN" beverages. The beach is long, clean, fine black sand and swimming is good. The ocean falls off very slowly and you can swim out quite far...course "most people know better than to go into the ocean in a storm..high wind or other. We really enjoyed our stay and even made friends with a very nice couple (world traveled) from New York, whom were in love with the entire area for its beauty and isolation to completely enjoy Palo Seco Beach. I would offer this suggestion: WHENEVER you go where there are poor, unemployed people , you might consider locking your items in the "free room safe".

Room Tip: We had a Southside double queen room, and it was quiet and clean

We had a great time in this wonderful hotel. The swimming pool is beautiful, and so are the rooms! The hotel is located a few meters away from a wild heavenly beach of the pacific ocean, one of the most beautiful we've seen in the country! And the breakfast was delicious :)
Thank you to the staff and to the owner of the hotel for their kindness. It was one of our best stop in costa rica!
