Since staying in town was out of the question with all the troubles, I had to stay at the airport Novotel. And what a find. This lobby is amazing and so is the breakfast buffet. And I thought my room was almost perfect, both roomy and had all my needs to do some work while I was there. After a very long trip from Mongolia, sleeping at the great hotel was exactly what I needed.

This hotel is very conveniently located to BKK airport. A shuttle bus runs from BKK to Novotel - there is a shuttle stand at one of the exits inside with Novotel staff. It takes only a few minutes to get to the hotel from the airport. The lobby is football field huge and has two big restaurants -Thai and Chinese and a bar. Rooms are great and very quite, the bed is just a bliss... There is also a 7am-midnight SPA but haven't checked it out.

Few remarks though: there is a big 10 people queue at check-in desk so please allow for some extra time when checking in or out, internet is rip-off at 500 THB / 12 hours and you can't purchase it from the room (have to go to biz centre or call room service); the food at Thai restaurant is pretty average. But all in all very good place to spend a night when in transit at BKK.

Extremely convenient for a late arrival on a long haul flight. Efficient hotel shuttle (literally 5 minutes) and you'll be in a safe and comfortable room very quickly. Excellent swimming pool. It is not a cultural experience, it is basically in the airport, and you'll want to get out fast in the morning.

Stayed one night to avoid central Bangkok. If no protests then we would have stayed in Bangkok for sure (we had accom booked). Hotel is nice. Airport pick up fast and efficient (a plus as we had a couple of kids with us). Check in pretty fast also - we were upgraded from premier room to junior suite. Pool area nice and the pool is nice but wow the staff down there were terrible. Dirty plates and towels were strewn everywhere and there was a sour puss taking (and not listening) to orders. Otherwise in the hotel staff were really good and friendly. Yes the air conditioner was really loud: plane loud. But I think it masked all the other noises near an airport (and we just looked at it as practice for the plane). Finally, we ate in the hotel at The Square and found it to be fantastic. We were surprised and very pleased at this excellent buffet.

We decided to skip Bangkok because of the protests and spent our last night near the airport. We had hoped to end our honeymoon on a high note so decided to spend the extra money to stay in a decent hotel. We would not recommend this hotel - the unfriendly staff and loud air conditioning (prevented me from sleeping). Simply not worth the price we paid.
